I have no idea... At my old middle school, we only had seven periods. Maybe the ninth period counts as homeroom or study hall or something.

And as far as I know, colleges/universities don't do periods.

We only had 6...  but 3, 4 and 5 were all half the time of the others were you had either lunch 3, class 4/5 or class 3/4 and lunch 5.

We used to have an 8th period, but that was an Advisory class. We later got rid of that and now we only have 7 periods.
