The Beatles - Till There Was You (2009 Stereo Remaster)

The Beatles recorded only one Broadway show tune and they picked one of the prettiest love songs written...

Thank you, HG!! ;)

But the version released on 18 July 1963 was played with two electric guitars plus drums. I heard that version time ago, but I can't locate it on YouTube... :(

Best!! ;)

I listed the recording dates, not the release date Xosé.  The same no vocal version you (and I) posted above, but with vocals added.

Well, maybe they're still around somewhere, Xosé.

Meanwhile, here's some good music to search by...

Xosé, I went back to Mark Lewisohn's The Complete Beatles Recording Sessions: The Official Story of the Abbey Road Years.  The entry for 18 July 1963 indicates three takes, two of which were complete.  The entry for 30 July 1963 indicates Till There Was You remade with Ringo playing bongos as Sir George Martin felt the full drum set on the previous takes was a bit overpowering.  With just this information available, it would appear that the takes on 18 July were with John and George playing acoustic guitars if drums on those takes were indeed obtrusive.

I don't have any bootlegs of these recording sessions and I'm not sure if any exist.  But I'd be curious to hear a studio electric take of this song from this period.

Meanwhile, Paul liked Peggy Lee's 1961 version and based his arrangement on it...

Awsome show! They were flawless!
I'm curious as to the dedication bettween sets. Does anyone know or remember what that was about?

Thank you for that little tidbit of info.

Randy Paar was in The Ed Sullivan Show audience that night.

The Beatles appeared on TV in the United States a month before, on The Jack Paar Show, January 3, 1964...
