Don't Ask Me Why by Billy Joel (a thought)

When "Don't Ask Me Why" first came out, I thought it was composed and being sung by Paul.  Turns out, it was Billy Joel.

Has anyone else ever noticed the similarity between Joel and Paul in this song?  Both the song style and vocal sound very alike to me.
