Who here likes them? I have a few of their albums, I really like Outlandos D'Amour and Synchronicity both solid albums.
-
I like them a lot. Stewart Copeland is an incredible drummer. Along with Sting and Andy Summers,,,,,they were great. If they ever got back together for a tour,,,,records would be broken.

The Police is a great band, Roxanne, I Cant Stand Losing you, message in a bottle, Great songs

I love em!!! Sting was a big influence on me for a long time. All fantastic musicians although I never got into Police albums...I'm a bit of a best of man.
Did anyone ever see Sting live in Oslo 94?
David Sancious - Keys
Vinnie Calaiuta - Drums
Dominic Miller- Guitar
Amazing gig! I personally prefer that to the Bring On the Night tour.
I saw Sting at The Albert Hall a couple of years back and seeing Vinnie do the glory fill in 5/4 on 7days was amazing....He rumbled the place!!!! lol

I'm a fan and have all their original albums (not counting compilations), but I think critics revere the band and their work a little bit too much.

One of the few non-60's bands that I like listening to, if no more than a greatest hits collection. I especially love their early singles ("Roxanne"; "Can't Stand Losing You"; "So Lonely"), that music is so straight, so direct.

Comments in the U2 thread followed by comments in the Police thread...hold on a second, pal. Who are you and what have you done with Andres?

Hahaha! My wife and I are listening to music while we paint the house, but she's not a fan of 60's music like me. So I looked for something that we both like, and I've always quite liked those bands. Now that I listened to them more often, I like them a bit more.

They don't do much for me (not the 50s or 60s) but I'd like to answer the comment about critics regarding them too highly.
This may be from a British bias, but I can't think of an act or an individual (Sting) whose critical standing has most taking a mauling since their (or his) heyday. Critics in Britain hate them!
You'd think they'd be a shoe-in for it, but I can't think that they've ever been on the cover of Mojo for example or, if so, probably only once.
