Classic 60's songs: Break On Through

"Break On Through" was the unsuccessful debut single by the Doors, released in January 1967. The composition was credited to the whole band, but it's basically a Jim Morrison's creation. The group seemed to have big expectations with this record; and indeed, despite its poor chart performance after its release (it reached only #126 in US), it ended up as one of the band's most recognized and popular songs. The obscure and intriguing lyrics served as an introduction to Morrison's poetry. Musically, the song has an exciting vibe, including a catchy riff and a neurotic organ solo. Fortunately, time was fair with this amusing dark piece.

Jim is one of those rare people, like the Beatles, who look fresh and modern in their photos and vids.

Fond memories of this song in college that involved a young lady and mind altering drugs.  I'll just leave it at that.
