Beatles : Hello Goodbye : alternative song track and promo film

At 1:36, John mimics the sound of guitar.
At 2:52, ONLY Paul bows to the 'audience' (I just love their humor!)
At 03:01, George looks at hula girl at the left. At 3:11, he looks to the hula girl at right.
From 3:06 up to the end, John can take eyes of the dancing girl. ;D

The guys are 'lined up' as they were when performing on TV or in concert.

Paul is not bowing.  That Rickenbacker 4001S is a heavy guitar.  Ask nimrod!

Either can I.  ;)

I never gave much thought to the fact that it may have taken kids a while to embrace the changes that The Beatles made to their image over the years. I always thought that if they did something new everyone was all over it but I guess that wasn't always the case:

I thought it was interesting that the guys seemed more accepting of the new look.

Uh oh! Since I'm a blonde I hope that doesn't mean I would have sat there on national television and said The Beatles looked weird!

Two of the blondes said that.  But American Bandstand was for the dancing crowd.  If they couldn't dance to it, it was "weird."  I guess that's why The Dave Clark Five's Over And Over was played on AB for over two years.  They were able to dance to that.

The good shows were Hullabaloo, Hollywood A Go Go and Shindig!

1:24   "It was funny!"

A lot of dim bulbs on AB that day.

Pardon me while I go back and watch 3:06 to the end of the first video on this page.    ;D

Those dancers could dance to anything! I think they would have found a way to dance to Strawberry Fields Forever.  ;)

So from your experience Barry do you think that the kids with the negative opinions were not necessarily representative of the general opinion at the time?

Nope, I've been a blonde my whole life. Although there's a bit of gray creeping in but since it's long I can still hide it. LOL

The dancers on those shows were phenomenal!

The Beach Boys - Dance, Dance, Dance (Shindig - 1964)

Shindig!   1964

The Beach Boys - Do You Wanna Dance (Shindig - Apr 2, 1965)

Shindig!   1965

Now, that's the way to open a show!

There were some moans from the crowd during the negative remarks.  I guess there was some hope for Philadelphia.

They sure were! And the dances then were so cool. I always look for Teri Garr in these clips. She was on Shindig and Hullabaloo too.

LOL My first college roommate's mom was one of the regular dancers on AB during the earlier years. There were ALOT of kids from Philly where I went to school.

Oh yeah! I haven't seen this one before. Did the Hondells ever have any other hits? It kind of seems like groups whose names were the same as their big song went on to be one-hit wonders. Maybe in this case they were different enough though.

The Hondells covered Younger Girl.  They also appeared in motion pictures of redeeming social value like Beach Ball...

I've heard that cover but somehow I missed the movie. Too bad 'cos I see that The Four Seasons were in it singing their golden gas "Dawn".

I always watch the movie when it's on.  It's got sky-diving girls in bikinis.    :)
