I had an interesting chat with a man at work today. He was checking out a book on Janis Joplin and I mentioned to him that I saw some of her stage clothes at the Hall of Fame. He got this really wistful look on his face and told me that had lived in San Francisco and had known her. He said they were at a party one time and he picked up a bracelet of hers that had broken and fallen to the floor. He forgot to give it back to her and had it for quite some time. We talked quite a bit about music; everything from Howlin' Wolf to Eric Clapton to Hot Tuna. It's tempting to doubt a story like that but the look on his face really made me think he was telling the truth. At any rate, it was nice to talk to someone who enjoys music so much.
