Steve Jobs bio confirms dispute with EMI held up Beatles debut on iTunes

The Beatles weren't able to make their long-awaited debut on iTunes until things were worked out with EMI, according to the new Walter Isaacson Steve Jobs biography. "The band was the last major holdout, primarily because it had not resolved with EMI music, which owned most of the songs, how to handle digital rights," Isaacson writes. In May, 2010 in an interview with the BBC, Paul McCartney also pointed the finger at EMI. "It's been business hassles. Not with us, or iTunes. It's the people in the middle, the record label. There have been all sorts of reasons why they don't want to do it," McCartney was quoted as saying.

Where does that leave Dani's statement that the dispute was over how much the songs should be sold for. He specifically said Jobs thought they were worth $0.79 and they, obviously the Beatles, disgreed with him.
