Beatlemania, Syal’s Bollywood Shakespeare: London Stage

Vintage filmed scenes of teenage girls gasping, crying and keeling over are screened during the live Beatles show “Let It Be” in London. Then the cameras switch to us, the real-life theater audience. We find ourselves sedately staring at our wrinkles and bald patches. Funnily enough, nobody is fainting.

Fantastic Beatles tribute takes audience back in time

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- With a band like the Beatles, everyone comes bearing their own expectations. Frankly, I expected to be mildly amused and possibly appalled or disappointed by the tribute band concert Sunday. I could not have been more wrong. The Liverpool Legends blew me away. At times, if I closed my eyes, it was like listening to a Beatles record. They were absolutely spot on.

John Lennon famously said he felt the Beatles were "more popular than Jesus," and though he would have to apologize and weather severe criticism for his comment, the band continues to be a source of legend for music fans, anglophiles and other obsessives.

Beatles For Sale: AG Rejiggers at Club Passim

There are six Beatles songs that Sony evidently does not own and AG is making them her own. AG, an out-and-about dyke singer-songwriter, has been part of the Rescues, but she's doing a tour under her own name (well, initials, her name is Adrianne Gonzalez - and no, no relation to the Red Sox former first baseman and ineffectual slugger) that stops at Club Passim Wednesday Oct.
