Its official,,,,,I must be gay. I heard this song on 80's satellite radio the other day and,,,,,I didn't hate it. Dont get me wrong, its a horrible song, but I enjoyed their voices. I figure if I hear this song once every 15 to 20 years, it'll be ok.

Lol! Your not gay, your mellowing with age! I think they did this song in the style of the older Hope and Crosby type duets!

If I had a time machine and it was possible to go back and sabotage one of Paul's songs to help prevent reputational damage I think it'd be this one.
Although I'd do my best to take out Ebony and Ivory at the same time.

yes good points, Id prefer you to get rid of The Frog Chorus, Mary Had A Little Lamb and C Moon

I've always liked this Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson collaboration as well as Say Say Say and The Man.
Ebony and Ivory was kind of dumb, but we were fortunate to see Paul and Stevie Wonder work together.

I gonna need a bigger time machine clearly.

I'll confess I don't mind Say Say Say. Had an ok feel to it. Just can't hack E&I though. Wonderful sentiment but the Cheesy Metre went off the scales.

I like 'Say Say Say' but I have to draw the line somewhere and 'The Man' is where i'm drawing it. Its possibly the worst song ever recorded.

I don't think I've ever heard The Man. I'll have too give it a listen now.

Ok. Listened. Um yeah. I'll stick with Say Say Say if forced to live with a MaccaJacko collab

Mary got a brand new watch
She swallowed it one day
She had to take a laxative to pass the time away
Well, the laxative it didn't work
And time it didn't pass
So if you want to know what time it is
Look up Mary's a...uncle, he's got a watch too!

As a Beatles- and McCartneyfan, I was truely embarrassed when this was released.

As a Beatles- and McCartneyfan, I was truely embarrassed when this was released.
As a young learning muso in the late 70s I had a music book of Beatles and early solo stuff. There was one Macca song I wasn't familiar with that had the first lyric line as:
I dearly love her artichokes (arty jokes).
And yes. The sheet music had the "arty jokes" in brackets. I can't remember what song it was. I'm almost afraid to look it up. Macca's done enough damage to his rep without me searching out more.
I'm a huge admirer of Macca. But he's been his own worst enemy.

Paul has always had a problem with wanting to be hip and belonging to the In Crowd per se. Jacko was the biggest name in music at the time so who did Paul try to collaborate with? Um, yeah. There's all kinds of instances like that, but i'm not going to get into it to deep. Anyways, some of his decisions can make a real fan feel,,,,a little embarrassed at times if you know what I mean.

I wonder if there's an element of Paul bestowing on the latest big name the "privilege" of working with him. Paul has a pretty healthy ego (not that there's anything wrong with that and he has good reason to) and I wouldn't be surprised if he considers his collaborations as a generous gesture to whoever he works with.
Or of course maybe he just like some artists and likes working with them. It could be that too. ;D

yeah thinking todd is a gayfer too...i suspect paul still too...i miss keith moon...

Take it back you Dylan loving bastage.

although when Paul tells that story he always says Jacko rang him (in a squeaky voice)

Of course. I'm sure Stevie Wonder rang him too.

Yep. All they wanted was some of Paul's best weed and they ended up singing with him

I tried to get him to sing a duet with me in the early 80's but he wouldn't return my calls. I thought it was cos I'm a girl but then I saw this...

Kelley I have not seen that video or heard that song in 30 years. What a great nostalgia piece.
That brightened my day

I'm glad you liked seeing the video Moog and that I'm not the only one! I remember hearing this song on the radio. It must have been in college if this was 1983 but I always thought it was later. I'm not sure if I saw the video then but I do recall getting a huge kick out of the first time I did see it, especially when I saw who Paul really was. I may have even screamed. LOL
