The Apple didn't fall far from the tree by the looks of Sean Lennon - he was the absolute spit of his father John as he shopped in Los Angeles yesterday, even down to the bowler hat with some jaunty feathers.

Rebecca Minkoff Invites Sean Lennon's GOASTT to Perform at Runway Debut

It seems MUGLER's Nicola Formichetti was onto something when he tapped Lady Gaga to perform at his runway debut. Now, Rebecca Minkoff is bringing the idea stateside by making her official runway debut with the help of musical duo GOASTT. Held on Feb. 11, Minkoff will show her full line at Lincoln Center’s Theater, with musical accompaniment from Sean Lennon and Charlotte Muhl, who make up the band. “Originally when I was concepting the collection, a lot of the inspiration was photos of Charlotte,” said Minkoff. “So our CMO reached out, and they were interested!”
Muhl will wear a Rebecca Minkoff look during the show, and Minkoff anticipates the duo will sing about two songs. For Minkoff fans who can't make it to the tents, the designer has already confirmed that entire show will be simulcast on Facebook and minkette.com

Haunted by the Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger

THE GHOST of a Saber Tooth Tiger is a mouthful. The band name does not flow freely when used in conversation, and creates even heftier roadblocks when assembled anywhere in the middle of a sentence. Though, it is notably peculiar that when viewed acrostically it spells "GOASTT," which when pronounced, reads like "ghost." Call it a stretch, but after spending ample time in the world of Sean Lennon and Charlotte Kemp Muhl's Acoustic Sessions, it seems the least bizarre of observations to be made.

REVIEW: Sean Lennon/Charlotte Kemp Muhl’s Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger @ The Woods (Portland, OR – 1/28/11)

Sean Lennon‘s last studio album, Friendly Fire, was brilliant. Not only was it chock full of great pop songs, but it also came with a DVD with a full album’s worth of cinematic music videos… for the entire album. Back in 2008, his new band Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger (with Charlotte Kemp-Muhl) had a presence on MySpace… and put out some songs that eventually blossomed into the debut album – Acoustic Sessions (out in late 2010). They hit the road this past December & January, winding up with their last few shows here on the West Coast.

A great evening of folk music went down at San Francisco's Cafe Du Nord last Tuesday, January 25th, and if you were lucky enough to get one of the few available tickets for The Ghost Of A Saber Tooth Tiger (The GOASTT) and Laura Gibson, you can vouch for the evening's intimacy and mind-blowing talent (not to mention a ton of somewhat unexpected laughs!).

Nice new tour cd "La Carotte Bleue" is available on Sean's own label " Chimera.com " music web site store. All different versions more electronic..only "Jardin du Luxembourg" & "Comic Strip" are de official versions but were only on vinyl and mp3 so now also on cd and "Britney Jean" finally released also, and the artwork is also nice to.This CD is currently not available anywhere else on the internet.

I am sure the video will stay online for anyone that miss's it and wants to watch it later.I really don't that much interest myself in the fashion show part of t.But I would like to watch Sean and Charlotte perform their songs for it.

The duo will be recording a lot this summer, but not before making an appearance at SXSW in Austin in March. Their label, Chimera Music, will be hosting a showcase featuring a variety of bands on the label, including The
Ghost of a Sabertooth Tiger, If By Yes (Yuka Honda's new band) and the Yoko Ono Plastic Ono Band, the group of Lennon's mother, Yoko Ono, which will be headlining the evening. "We've played SXSW as a band before," Lennon says, "but never as a full record label, so its kind of exciting."

The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger - Acoustic Sessions (2010)

Featuring this dreamtime folk whimsy and a fabulist band name, The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger sound at times like Syd Barrett, or maybe Simon and Garfunkel. Or, like an ornate, late-night 1960s French pop singer, after perhaps one too many tokes.

What they don't sound like, not really, is John Lennon. And that's saying something. See, last November's Acoustic Sessions is the quietly issued debut of Sean Lennon second son of Beatle John; only child of his union with Yoko Ono -- and talented multi-instrumentalist/model/girlfriend Charlotte Kemp Muhl as the Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger.

Sean is, actually, this atom-smashing blend of his two parents, with the gentle romanticism and sharp wordcraft that represents one part of his father's complex legacy, but also the far-out mysticism of his conceptual artist mom. Yet, in his own very gentle way, Lennon slips away from celebrity's claustrophobia with the GOASTT's understated Acoustic Sessions, a fantastic effort in the literal sense of the word.

The Ghost Of A Saber Tooth Tiger

As the only child of John Lennon and Yoko Ono, Sean Lennon really needs no introduction. Actually, neither does Charlotte Kemp Muhl.Without knowing it, you’ve probably seen the 23-year-old fashion model in commercials for Maybelline, or in the pages of your favorite glossy magazine. Together, they are surely one of New York’s most artsy and fashionable couples. Aside from forming a romantic relationship, they also started Chimera Music together and they formed a band called The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger (often abbreviated GOASST and pronounced “Ghost”). Bob and I took the train from to New York to interview them at Sirius. For their recent tour, and for the studio performance GOASTT gave us, Sean and Charlotte were joined by horn player CJ Camerieri who can do amazing things with a trumpet and a french horn. To their regret, CJ does not appear on The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger’s debut CD called Acoustic Sessions. After a late start, the three played most of the cuts from the album plus a few new songs. Sean sang, while playing guitar and a kick drum at the same time. Charlotte sang and alternated between an electric bass, an accordion and melodica, while CJ added beautifully strange textures by electronically altering his horn playing. I saw this same trio perform flawlessly live on stage a few weeks before but for this studio session, we indulged Sean and Charlotte’s competitive perfectionism so recording the songs took longer than expected, but we were still able to record a 40 minute interview with them before Bob and I said thank you and rushed back to Penn Station to catch our train to DC.

Lennon's Ghost in Marfa
It was a surreal evening and the product of a fluke happenstance. Last month, my good friend and gifted songwriter, Laura Gibson, informed me that she was going to be the opening act on tour for Sean Lennon's new project, the Ghost of a Sabertooth Tiger, a duo with himself and his partner Charlotte Kemp Muhl. Since Laura had a break in the tour in between Austin and Tucson, she asked me if I wanted to put together a show for her and I. As a joke, sort of, I suggested that if Sean Lennon wanted to play on the bill, we could make room. She called me back a few days later and said, "Well actually..."

And so that is how I ended up on a bill with the son of John and Yoko, the beautiful boy himself. While Sean does not lean on his heritage, he doesn't reject it either. He is the incarnate image of his 60s era father and doesn't try very hard to sound or look very different. Why should he? He seems comfortable with his inherited talent, but not necessarily the legacy. His tiny band travels with one extra trumpet player and a sound man in a modest van that they load and unload themselves.

On their new EP, La Carotte Bleue, the Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger's Sean Lennon and Charlotte Kemp Muhl indulge their Francophile jones – the swoony duo is heavily influenced by such icons of Gallic cool as Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin -- by recording a couple tracks in French. The video for the EP's sinisterly funky "Comic Strip," premiering here, is also a Gainsbourg homage (and a Gainsbourg cover).
