I don't know, Geoff.  I had that vinyl long ago.  I gave it away to a girlfriend at the time.  We played that track over and over again.  It wasn't Mick who said "pregnant," rather the other Stones saying it in the background after a bit of a pause.

Just curious really. Thanks for answering my second question, too: I couldn't figure out how that line might be sung.

Right.  Well now you hear the Stones say "who tells me" on the backbeat.  Same pause, Geoff.  I'd say the lyrics make more sense as originally recorded.

Might be a good idea to search the Rolling Stones forums for some further information and possible boots.

And I see what you mean, Geoff.  It makes sense that way too.  But I do remember what we heard.....over and over again.  Yes, it would make for some interesting rummaging!

I wish I still had that album.  That track was certainly scratched up with all the tonearm maneuvers performed.

No, I don't remember the number.  On the day of the US release, I waited on a line outside Macy's in NYC until the store opened.  I then made a mad dash to the record department and grabbed the album.  I paid for it and made the bus in seconds flat and got to class (a bit late).

Lucky guy: I was born in 1963, so I missed all that. The first "new" Beatles album I got a chance to buy on the day of its release was the BBC album in 1994. I was working in a Yonge Street (Toronto) book shop at the time, and stopped at the Sam the Record Man store near Yonge and Dundas on the way to work: there was line up of around two dozen or so people at the cash registers, all of them with Live At The BBC.
