Title: Benedict Canyon Dve
Post by: stevie on May 30, 2011, 09:10:48 PM
Hi guys.

Am doing research for a new Beatles script/short. I want to write about their 5 day stay in 1965 at the house in L.A. I plan to create a fictional character, a young local dude with a home movie camera, who John gets to stay with htem, and film it all.

So there'll be all the acid trips, celeb meetings, Elvis, all mixed in with references to future Beatle songs, told in a dreamy sort of doco type way (hopefully)

While I was googling BCD, I came across a discussion from 2007, on some Beatle site. Someone ventured that the BCD house was actually made up and the boys stayed at another address in Curzon Terrace, in another part of L.A. They had pics of the house and the boys which I'd never seen before.
But the BCD house is mentioned in almost every factual account so I discounted it all. Then I realised they stayed in this other house in 1966!!  Amusiingly, one of the people discussing this, points out who is in this longrange photo, and says, 'George is holding a fan-made yellow submarine toy, etc. Obviously not much of a Beatle fan, as that proves it is 1966 and not at BCD.
Anyway, if anyone out there has more links to websites or books where I can leran more about BCD, or any ideas for my script, please feel free to post.

Im interested in this as well, since I now live in the L.A. area. I did some research and also some google earth-ing.

Dont forget, the Beatles also stayed at 356 St Pierre Road in Bel Air, Los Angeles in 1964 and if you don't believe me, here is a man who'll tell you about it now :)

Very comely L.A. girls as well :)

Good luck with your research.

I was planning on heading up the canyon someday to check out these locations...

Cheers Casbah and Bobber.

I have a fair bit of info from various books - Larry Kane's 'Ticket To Ride' has some good anecdotes as he went to BC one day.
Anthology mentions it too.

I've written the intro bit, with 2 brothers in modern day collecting a package from their late fathers' security box. Inside is a dvd and the flashback begins.

I'll get off my arse again today and keep working on it.
