21,000 ‘Come Together’ for Abbey Road on the River Beatles festival

Despite above-average temperatures over the Memorial Day weekend, organizers of Abbey Road on the River estimate 21,000 people attended the five-day event.That estimate was slightly down from last year’s attendance, according to a news release.

Beatles Musical to Play in L.A. Before Hitting Broadway

Backbeat," the musical that details the birth of the Beatles, will make its final pre-Broadway stop in Los Angeles early next year. An adaptation of the 1994 Universal Pictures film, "Backbeat" will play L.A.'s Ahmanson Theater from Jan. 16 through Feb. 24. Opening night is Jan. 23.

For 'Beatle Brunch,' it began 20 years ago today

It was May 31, 1992 that "Beatle Brunch" was first broadcast. The nationally syndicated Beatles show, hosted by Joe Johnson, started out on stations in five states and now is heard all over the U.S.

New Beatles festival plans inaugural event in Connecticut this July

Danbury, Ct., will be the home of a new 10-hour festival to honor the Beatles on July 28. Danbury Fields Forever will feature music from Beatles tribute bands and also acts paying tribute to Paul McCartney and John Lennon.The festival will feature 10 bands, each representing different eras or presentations of Beatles music.

Newsweek's 50 year Beatles tribute worth searching out

Beatles tribute magazine aren't rare, though good ones seem to be. Newsweek's new special commemorative issue, "The Beatles: 50 Years Since the Music Started," is one of those. The magazine, which will be available until June 1, is 98 pages of pictures, stories and information.

1963 saw the Beatles' breakthrough and you can hear the mania in almost everything they recorded that year. Sandwiched between the first big hit (Please Please Me) and the first imperial moment (She Loves You), From Me To You is almost forgotten and so is undimmed by overfamiliarity.
