Gone Troppo is better than all of the other Dark Horse albums, excluding Cloud Nine. Half of it is really great, which is more than I can say for some of his other albums.

Rowdy, I'm coming to see we don't see eye to eye on lots of solo albums (though we both enjoy WILD LIFE!)
I think GONE TROPPO is hands down George's least album. I like the song
Dream Away
best, because it was from TIME BANDITS which was in the theatres around then.
other decent songs...
Wake Up My Love
That's the Way It Goes
Gone Troppo

Those four songs you mentioned are my favorites from the album, and yes "Dream Away" is undoubtedly the best.....fantastic melody. None of the other Dark Horse albums that came out before Troppo have four tracks of that caliber in my opinion...

Here are some tracks I liked from other Dark Horse albums:
SOMEWHERE IN ENGLAND:
Blood From a Clone
Unconsciousness Rules
Life Itself
All Those Years Ago
Baltimore Oriole
Teardrops
GEORGE HARRISON:
Love Comes to Everyone
Not Guilty
Here Comes the Moon
Soft-Hearted Hana
Blow Away
Faster
Dark Sweet Lady
Your Love Is Forever
Soft Touch
If You Believe
* (HEY! That's the entire album!
)
THIRTY THREE & 1/3:
Woman Don't You Cry For Me
Dear One
Beautiful Girl
This Song
See Yourself
It's What You Value
True Love
Crackerbox Palace
As I typed these titles I thought to myself, "oh come on, Rowdy - there are some great Harrisongs here!" You really don't think any of those match GONE TROPPO's?

Thirty Three and 1/3:
This Song
Crackerbox Palace
George Harrison:
Love Comes to Everyone
Not Guilty
Here Comes the Moon
Blow Away
Faster
Somewhere in England:
All Those Years Ago
Teardrops
Gone Troppo:
Wake Up My Love
That's The Way It Goes
Gone Troppo
Mystical One
Dream Away
Troppo edges out George Harrison because the rest of its numbers are more interesting. A lot of the rest on GH is far too bland in my opinion.

Gone Troppo is crap compared to Cloud Nine by a long shot but it has a great album cover.

'Gone Troppo' is bad. I think its easily George's worst. Its got a few decent tunes as mentioned before (actually Wake Up My Love is a favorite), but all in all its pretty weak. 'Thats The Way It Goes' is so bad that its almost laughable. Sounds like a cross between The Beach Boys and the Oak Ridge Boys. Seriously Fried, dont judge a book by its cover (the cover on this album is its strongest point). Buy the other albums first if you dont have them yet.

"That's the the way it goes" is great. I have thought about buying the cd because of this song. The song could have been on Cloud 9 or his 79 album. Great song. Not dated like Wake up either.

This seems to be an invisible album (like Extra Texture (Read All About It)). Underrated both.
