I've been doing this for about 5 years now. I was a bit podgy round the middle and my Doc suggested it (it worked for her).
After dinner between 6 or 7pm I don't eat anything till about 1pm next day (so about 18 hours). Just drink plenty of water and some coffee.
Initially I slowly lost about 20lbs (9kg) and since then I've stayed pretty slim, well within my BMI. So it's worked for me.
Apparently its good for your metabolism also.
Here's a video of a Doctor talking about it (sorry about the vocal fry she has and overuse of the word "like")
Does anyone else do this ?

I've tried it over the years, generally don't eat after 7pm but only go to 11:30 or noon the next day, have been told 16+ hours is the minimum for men to get a benefit.
I am "pudgy" now, maybe it would be good to start up again

I'd like to give it a go but Im one of these types who needs to eat first thing when I get up otherwise I feel blah. So for Me I'd need to have dinner by around three or four o'clock.

Hm; I've been meaning to try this. My friend Jessica back in Nevada and I would joke, if only we could go to bed at 5:00 pm or so, and not get up until midday the next day, we'd lose weight easily. ;)
But I do mean to drop some pounds—when I do get to a beach I'd like to do so without too much self-consciousness. Of course, I'll never get my 20-year-old bikini body back, but a close—or even not-so-close— approximation would be nice.

Wife is exactly the same, wakes up hungry, it's been easy for me as I never liked eating breakfast.

I recently watched some videos from Dr. Berg, he talks much about 16/8 rule.
So maybe I'll give it a try. But yet I only try do not eat in the evening and have a breakfast as late as possible.

When I shaved off my beard, I found that there was a lot of excess left on my face. So I have to solve this problem ha2ha

I’m now trying a similar thing. Two days a week you cut the calories way down (to 500 to 600). Then eat normally the rest of the week. I find it manageable as I’m not a huge eater anyway and so mainly cut down on lunch and make sure I go off the grog for those days. Jury’s out on if it’ll work though. ha2ha

Keep us posted! I've been tempted to try this myself.

Welcome back. I hope this cruise was better for you and Gwyneth, Kev.

I have to second that, nim. And having seen how easy it is to order and eat food on the one cruise I have been on, I'd say you have shown remarkable restraint. :)

Yes thank you Baz and Kathy it was really nice, no illness at all.
A splendid time was guaranteed for all.

Where’s your next cruise to Nim?
It's in March all around New Zealand, with a lot of stops. Same ship, Quantum of the Seas. I'll post some pics on board later :)

I'm looking foward to watching that, and any photos you post, after I wrap up my work for today. I Googled Quantum of the Seas back when you first mentioned it because. . . well, it's a ship. ;D

I was checking airline fares to New Zealand several weeks back. I was trying to think of the farthest place from North Dakota. Then I found a site called furthestcity.com, or something like that, and learned my farthest cities are Perth (largest city) and Adelaide (next largest; they stratify it by population or something).
Sigh.

Good thing you didn't come a month early. We had a terrible cyclone last month. So much damage!

I saw this and thought of you, Nim, when I saw this article. I sure hope you and your wife are safely home. I wasn't sure how many cruises were on your itinerary.

We nearly booked that cruise it was going cheap. But the flights back to Oz were horrendously expensive. Puzzle how anyone could fall off a ship, unless it was meant. Poor bloke :'(

I'm glad you and your wife are safe and sound. I've been on only one cruise, but it seems that, to fall overboard one must either be engaging in drunken shenanigans or deliberately jump. Either way, it's such a tragedy.
