The Beatles - "Vox: Sound of the Longhairs"
US Vox Advertisement
As the result of an agreement made in 1962 between Reg Clark, the sales manager of Vox and Brian Epstein, manager of the Beatles, Vox supplied the "fab four" with two new Vox AC-30 amplifiers for a very small cost. In return, the Beatles agreed to be advertising spokesmen for Vox.

The ad shown below, designed by Thomas Organ and published in "Downbeat" magazine in early 1965, featured a JMI promotional photo of the Beatles with a variety of Vox amps.

Hello Goodbye:

JMI's 1963 Beatles VOX ads looked like what you posted, Kelley and like this, before they began using the Drop T bass drumhead...

By 1965, the ads looked like this...

I used to dream about having an AC30 one day.  That day came decades later...

Oops! Thanks for catching that, Barry! I guess I gave that website too much credit and didn't read carefully. Although I'm not a musician I still get a kick out of those Vox ads. Even the ones that just mention their name.  :)
