Great song that got little airplay was "Pictures Of Lily!" The whole harmony and drum sequence was right proper!!!!!!!!!

Wont Get Fooled Again beats Stairway To Heaven

stairway only had good lyrics, guitar, and vocals....Wont Get Fooled Again had it all

i think many stations were afraid of playing it because of all the controversy that surrounded it. with the whole masturbation thing and all.

led2, 4, and graffiti are a lot mroe consistent with better songs too. for every good song on tommy, i can jsut as easily name a mediocre one.

I don't get the great appeal of Stairway to Heaven. It's so corny. The lyrics are awful. Like a 12 year old wrote it.

There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold
And she's buying a stairway to heaven
And when she gets there she knows if the stores are closed
With a word she can get what she came for

Yeah, I really can't see Pete coming up with anything that contrived. I think his lyrics are deeper. More introspective. Not mystical. Not that all Zeppelin songs are like that, but they have a tendancy. Again, it's all preference and this is just my opinion. And Tommy is a rock opera, it's telling a story so of course there are going to be songs that are not hit single material. But it all flows and makes sense to the main story. Makes more sense then the Wall, but I think the Wall works on a different level. You really have to think about the songs and what he's trying to put forth. I think Waters is one of the best lyricists out there as well as Pete. I think Zeppelin's more about the music. They're a hard rock band so the lyrics are secondary to the guitar/drums etc.

I like the solo's in Comfortably Numb, Hey You, Shine On, Time, and Echoes (pompeii version) better. They've got more feeling. Again, just me.

Yeah, I couldn't think of them! I was gonna put the Another Brick one, but I thought people would thiink I was crazy. It really is good though. Comfortably Numb off of Pulse is AMAZING! Have you seen it?

yeah!!! i have it on video and CD it is so amazing...I like it wayy better than Stairway solo....but to not hurt the Zep fans, Stairway solo is decent, I enjoy the song..its cool, but I think its overrated as in being the best song ever

but it ain't always about the solos for me. you got to have hot riffs too. gilmour could never make riffs like the ones in "heartbreaker" and "whole lotta love."

then again, gilmour hardly ever did seeing as prog music isn't really riff-oriented.

funny thing is, Im wearing a Zep shirt right now...I agree though, Page had some awesome riffs!!- Black Dog, Heartbreaker, Whole lotta love, The Ocean, Moby Dick, Communication Breakdown....I have to say Im a Zep fan myself, but I like Pink Floyd better for my own reasons
