Did you hear a certain song or watched a film?
I'm curious to see how we all caught Beatlemania.
Me?
-
When my dad first got Netflix the first thing he ordered were the Anthology tapes. I had been getting into classic rock recently and enjoyes the movies, but it was the video for Penny Lane that made me fall in love. I must have played it 150 times, then Hey Jude and Strawberry Fields, Get Back etc. At that point i dug out some old Beatles cd's i had from when i was a little kid and never looked back.

Probably the Yellow Submarine and their other movies. I couldn't wait for them to come one every year!! But then I know I've always loved their music so I could have been into that first. I was SO young when I first got into them that I really can't remember HOW exactly!! I wish I cold though!! I know that a few of my friends could say it was me that got THEM into the Beatles though!!! ;D

What made you into a fan in the first place?
Payola.
-
I became a fan at the age 0f 11 when I first saw the Beatles Anthology. From then on I've bought everthing I can with the word Beatles on it.
-
In middle school I started listening to the Oldies while doing homework, and then suddenly I realized I was actually paying attention whenever the Beatles came on.
Loyal ever since.

PID. I looked into so many songs for clues that I started just liking all their stuff.
Now I'm obsessed :D
-
I saw the movie Help when I was 10. The opening where they are singing "Help" sealed it. Thats what I wanted to do when I grew up. Of course I did'n have the talent and since the Beatles were not hiring I decided I better find some other kind of job, but I remained a life long fan
-
i dunno, what exactly, my dad is a Beatles fan so maybe i inherited it? But I think it was Can't Buy Me Love that first got me interested in The Beatles.
-
Interestingly enough, the song "Octopus's Garden" got me hooked in them.
-
Thanks everyone for replying!
It's so interesting to read all your posts!
I've got 2 kids, 12 and 9 and they've been listening to them since
before they were born!
-
she loves you got me hookked then i just explored my way htrought beatles songs
-
Actually, I did a little more thinking about it and I have to say I think it was Paul's face that got me into them. I was more than a little obsessed with it!!
-
A few years back, a teacher I deeply respect put on Blackbird and told us, "Listen. This is music. Music is meant to affect you, you have to feel each chord and syllable in your mind and body." I just remember thinking "Wow."
Some time after I saved up my money and bought Sgt. Pepper's. Why that album, you ask? I just remembered there was a picture of the cover in an English text book in fourth grade and I recognised it.

One of my best friends was always a big beatles fan, so when I heard the beatles at my uncle's house, I decided to pick up Abbey Road and Rubber soul.
-
The glamour of the previous stories will create a sort of stale visual once mine is told :)
In the car with my Aunty, she had just bought the new No 1 Cd (...yep...) After Listening to the songs once, I felt something just clicked, and then listened to the album constant for a few months.
The my mate said his dad has a few Beatle albums, I glanced over the titles...Revolver, Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club band, Please Please me... I was nervous at first, thinking they might not be as good as expected....Revolver was chosen ( the album cover, in my opinion, is the best) ...1,2,3, 4 .. and then the obsession really started :)
I could just relate to the Beatles in Music, Opinion, art, fashion etc etc ..
A 'true' Band.

Blackbird,
Beatlemania's contagious!! :)

My mum and brother were massive fans and it was at a party in our house they put on past masters-the first songs I heard where Inner Light and Rain. After that I knew even though i was like 10 at the most-they were different and now I own all Beatles songs ever recorded...never looked back...great thread btw
-
PS now i AM repeat I AM the biggest Beatle fan in the world! :P:P
-
i was 9 Years old what more can i Say
-
I can't remember how old I was, four or five. We couldn;t listen to the radio so we had to play mum and dads old tapes. They had a crappy tape version of 1962 - 1966 (missing Drive my car, Please Please me I think) and that was our favourite, we listened to it over and over. The obsession started when a radio station played "A-Z of the Beatles" when I was 13 and I taped songs I knew, and then was hooked!
I wish I could say I got my friends on to it but they used to smile politely when ever I btought them up!
-
^wow, your friends smiloe politely? Mine tell me to shut the f*ck up.

It's hard for me to say how I became a fan. When I was living at my relatives house with my mom, my aunt and my grandma when I was younger, I got a keyboard when I was about 4, and on it was a midi demo of Let it Be, and every song I would hear by them I would ponder about and fall in love with. But when I moved cities I had completely changed personality and everything, plus I was kinda an 11 year old traumatized for life in 2001, and I just hadn't listened to music in a while after that. I got an acoustic guitar from my aunt about a year ago, and one of the first days I started playing I was looking at a random tablature I found and I realized it was Yesterday...I just snapped back into it and just am a bigger fan every passing day. Their music always meant a lot to me and now I can't go a day without listening to them.

A friend whom I lived with was a big Beatles fan. She had the White Album, I borrowed it, and the rest is history, more or less.
-
My brother bought the "number one" album and then I listened to it. Well, that's the beginning. It's been one year (I know it's not that long) since I was a fan. But now I know almost every song! I still love the 1 album but there are better ones!
When I was little I knew the 'famous' songs like Hey Jude and Let It Be but I never knew who the Beatles really were and where they came from. It's amazing what you learn in one year...
-
well since my parents are oldish ever since i was young i stated hearing songs by the beatles but i never really knew who they were but just around this year mt friends started showing me beatle related stuff and then i becamce hooked
