Beatles as vocalists
« on: November 03, 2004, 06:10:23 AM »

In terms of their contemporaries, how do you rate the Beatles as singers? There was a great discussion earlier on about who had the best voice amongst the four, but what about when compared with other bands?

I am thinking more along the lines of groups who also played their own instruments, where the songs and the music were just as, if not more, important; and not vocal groups like a lot of the soul singers of the 60s, where the voice was pretty much the main package.

I give them a 4 out of 5 because they weren't the best singers but their songs were very unique. I loved their voice.

The Beatles are amazing, vocal wise.
The Harmonies...the blending of voices ..(This Boy as an example)

They are among the best.
Other Great Vocal Bands..The Beach Boys..Crosby Stills Nash and Young ..

The Crosby Stills Nash and Young is something I have been discovering with a few friends for about 6 months now. Harmonies and their de-tunes are brilliant.
Beatles and singing. ...?.....It's not about how technical you are, it's how you convey lyric.....Seems they got us all perved about that 1. In my years as a musician apart from great soul, gospel harmonies etc.?
They still remain unsurpassed. Just rehearsing 'If I fell' today reminded me of that!!!  abbey rd. harmonies always freak me out. Natural vibers!!!!!!!!Beach boys good too but not as many great tunes. .....Truth.
