Darn it all!!!!  Apparently not many Canadians actually watched the game...  (I was at work, I didn't have a chance to see it.  Funny being I work in a sports store.)

Congratulations to Russia though.  They played hard, the deserve it.

Ice Hockey World Championship 2011

Yesterday Russia beat Canada like an year ago in a very hard and very strange and very interesting game. Today we'll see two very interesting games. I believe Czech will beat Sweden, and Russia will beat Finland. The final match will be really a tough one. Czechs do their best on the current Championship.

Hm, interesting how this is working out!  (Not gonna lie, I've been paying more attention to the NHL playoffs than the World Hockey Championships)

To be true, I believe, Canadians send each year not their best players to the World Championship. I see also, all Canadians and Americans love NHL, and pay less attention to the World Championship.

By the way my forecast didn't come true. Sweden beat Czech, and Finland beat Russia. This year our players didn't show good game  :-\

Yeah, the world championships get A LOT less media coverage than the NHL playoffs.  If you think about it, that's where our best of the best players end up and then when their team's knocked out of the playoffs then they play in the world championships.  Even just a couple years ago in the NHL draft out of the top 10 draft picks, 7 were Canadian and 3 were Swedish.

I'm guessing that logistically this is best time every year to have the World Championship.  Pity that it runs concurrently with the Stanley Cup playoffs which is what I will watch over the World Championship.  The little of the World Championship that I did watch was good hockey.

Wow, great performance from Canada, 6-1 is quite the result. I feel for Alex Ovechkin though, two tough losses this week for the Great Eight.

Indeed, great! Canada played perfectly and showed highest class! They were very fast, accurately and had a reliable defense. I liked how they played. And I wonder what happend with Russia. Very bad play :-( Albeit, I saw from the very beginning of the championship that Russia do not play very good and have poor defense and as usual lose face-offs every time. It's a pity that we do not see interesting fight and saw some kind of tennis, as some Media tells.
