Interview: Some people study history, but she studies the Beatles

What's it like to have a major in the Beatles? Mary-Lu Zahalan wrote her thesis on “Cultural Capital: The Beatles in Canada,” an academic study of Canada's role in the success of the Beatles, which is now available for purchase through The Beatle Works. She was the first to graduate with a master's degree in “The Beatles: Popular Music and Society” from Liverpool Hope University. The Beatle Works website is also publishing “The Beatles Bibliography,” which we recently featured in a two-part (part 1, part 2) interview.

Beatles' Love Me Do launch recalled by press officer

The release of Love Me Do, The Beatles’ first single, is often seen as a turning point in the history of popular music – the moment when the old rockers and crooners were swept away by the Mersey tide.
