I used to LOVE "Love Boat" and "Fantasy Island" (and The Gong Show)!  :D  I spent just about every Saturday night of my geeky middle-school years plunked in front of the TV watching those programs.

Me too! How about "Eight is Enough" and "The Facts of Life"? I know I will sound like an old lady when I say this but there just isn't anything that appeals to me on TV now, except "The Office". All this reality stuff is too real; I want escapism!  ;)

Those shows from the 1970's and into the 1980's were very special, I used to look forward to seeing all of those shows.

Oh, yes -- I'd forgotten about those shows. Good memories!

I agree about escapism; I prefer it, too! I dislike pretty much all reality TV. My daughters love that show "Dance Moms," and I can take that for about 10 minutes, but then I get stressed out by all the angry shrieking. Life is stressful enough without getting more from TV.  ;)  That's my own personal opinion, anyway.

Now I find that a little hard to believe!  ;) Did you know that Lani O'Grady who played Mary (the med student) is the sister of Don Grady who played Robbie on "My Three Sons". My sister had a crush on him and had to tell me this bit of info back then! (I thought he was pretty cute too.)

Geez, after i posted this I read that Lani O'Grady died in 2001 of a drug overdose. Too many, too young.  :'(

I dislike pretty much all reality TV.

The only reality show I used to watch when we had cable was "Clean House". It was my guilty pleasure I guess. My son is moving back home due to a job transfer and HAS to have cable (he's buying it) so I guess I'll find out what I've been missing.  ;D

Don't forget THE LOVE BOAT and FANTASY ISLAND!

I considered those as one show..."Boss boss, de plane, de plane!"  "Boss boss, de boat, de boat!"  It was great work for unemployed actors.

But in the 70s I watched shows of profound social importance, like The Bugaloos

The Bugaloos were cool! That was my favorite Saturday morning show. Closely behind them were The Pink Panther and The Ant and the Aardvark. Oh and H.R. Pufnstuf.

I heard that a lot of the kids either got into trouble or out of work. Willie Aames had trouble throughout his acting career. He starred with Scott Baio in the TV series CHARLES IN CHARGE! (I think that's the name of the show!) I heard about Lani O'Grady dying of a drug overdose. I LOVED MY THREE SONS, that was a cool show!
