What's your fav album?? It could be either from Wings or from Paul's solo career.
My favorite is Band on the run!! It's one of the best albums ever, all the songs are good!!
I also love Flaming Pie and Venus & Mars. What about you guys?
-
For me it's a simple choice: Flaming Pie! I love every song from that album!

I think I'd have to say Ram is my favourite, closely followed by Band On The Run.
-
Probably go with Driving Rain right now, but it changes

Off the Ground

Off the groud is a great album too. That would be my second choice. I love sailing on a winedark open sea and i owe it all to you and not to mention off the ground, get out of my way and of course hope of deliverance
-
Back to the Egg or Red Rose Speedway
-
I like Flaming Pie because of all the acoustic ballads. Macca is the king of that type of music and should do more of that.
-
Do greatest hit cds count? If not, then I choose Band on The Run.
-
Band on Da Runnnnnnnn
-
Wings Over America....one of the greatest live classic rock albums of all time showcasing Paul at his finest with his band Wings.
-
BAND ON THE RUN
Hey hey ho!
-

Good! Me too! When it came out in 1997, I played it over and over. Just beautiful.
"Flowers in the Dirt" would be my next favorite. :)
-
Band on the Run, followed by Venus and Mars and Ram.
-
I haven't got all albums of him but Flowers in the Dirt and Driving Rain are the best of the ones I have. Band On The Run isn't that bad, too.
(after I read this comments I reget that I haven't bought Flaming Pie when I had the chace to do so. I think I will make up for doing that. ;) )
-
Not a big fan of any Paul album all the way through. I love bits and spurts from all of them, to be honest. That's how I organize my McCartney.
That being said, Ram would be number 1, Flaming Pie number 2, and then I like McCartney, Flowers in the Dirt, Tug of War pretty evenly. BOTR is OK but hasn't worn well on me for some reason.
The others I'd rather forget, aside from a few tracks. :)
I think in every Beatles solo career there are gems. That's my take.
-
I'm gonna go with Back in the U.S. I really enjoyed that album...does it count since it's a live album?
-
Well, I have an embarassingly small collection of Paul's albums, but still I say Tug of War (though I can't stand Ebony and ivory)
-
VENUS AND MARS.
-
Venus and Mars would rank very high with me if the production was consistent. One song sounds good and then the next sounds like mud and etc,,,. I do enjoy the material though.
-
I think the production on Venus and Mars is great..........it all has a very slick rock feel to it.....fantastic album.
-
I think the production on Venus and Mars is great..........it all has a very slick rock feel to it.....fantastic album.
Wow! I definately disagree with you on this one Rowdy. An example would be 'Rockshow'! This song could have been a contender, but when you listen to it, it sounds like its being played under water. It sounds horrible. Especially after listening to the clean cut 'Venus and Mars'. I wish they could clean it up some. Oh well.
-
You have a point about "Rockshow" but the songwriting on that album is so great that the production takes a backseat I guess...but I don't know, "Rockshow" still sounds great on the whole....much better than his 80's albums that suffered from the same production of most of the decade's releases.....very cheesy, outdated.
-
"Rockshow" sounds like a rock song. Rock and roll should sound somewhat rough, I think.
-
The song sounds like sh*t and I dont think that it should. Another song Paul rushed out of the studio.
-
Oh well, I guess we have to agree to disagree on Rockshow.
-
i agree with rowdy, only in reverse:
ram
venus and mars
band on the run
(and i have to throw the sentimental vote to McCartney album, i remember buying it and thinking how neat it was that paul could do it all by himself out in the middle of nowhere)
-
i buy me this week thrillington who have this album too
-
I have most of the MP3s from it.........a novelty release really, but it's an interesting way to listen to Ram once you've heard the original a bit too much.
-
At the mo I would say Chaos and Creation although I have just embarked on a voyage of solo Macca discovery. Just checkin out RAM.
Why do these Beatles have to get their wives appearing on their albums? lol
-
Why do these Beatles have to get their wives appearing on their albums? lol
He He! to feel superior, (at least for a while?) ;D
-
Why do these Beatles have to get their wives appearing on their albums? lol
I thought sometimes that they were missing each other, I mean John and Paul. So, they got their wives in on the acts as substitutes. I'm probably wrong.
At least Linda McCartney could sing, more or less.
-
Macca get's Linda sounding good in places. Your probably right about the subs but it is a shame. They put me off so much. I can't help it.
-
I have Linda's Wide Prarie album and I like it.
-
1. Ram
2. Band On The Run
3. McCartney
-
I see that I was voting (in 04' mind you) just to be different. Anyways-
1. RAM
2. Flaming Pie
3. Chaos
in that order so far.
-
Hmm... I have Venus and Mars and think it's alright. Nothing special though.
My favorites are Ram, Tug of War, Band on the Run, Red Rose Speedway (I LOVE the first three songs, Dragonfly, and the Suite), Chaos and Creation, and Flaming Pie.
My favorite?
Too hard to choose :)
-
1. Back To The Egg
2. Off The Ground
3. Band on the Run
4. Flowers In the Dirt
-
I love all Paul's 70's stuff. Maybe it's because I partly grew up with it, but I think all Wings' albums are good ones. There's always a lot of songs I enjoy very much.
-
Back to the Egg
London Town
Flowers in the Dirt

1. Chaos And Creation In The Backyard
2. Band On The Run

5 VENUS AND MARS
The worst I have is Pipes Of Peace. Sorry Paul!
-
Ram
Band on The Run
Flaming Pie
Chaos and Creation in The Backyard
Memory Almost Full ( Sorry Tug of War your for the boot lol )
DaveRam ;)
-
Yesterday I purchased Chaos And Creation In The Backyard -the special edition 8)- and is such a fantastic album, really sad and beautiful. All songs are fantastic, How Kind Of You makes me cry. I guess could be between my 5 favourite Macca albums, so my list above could be modified soon! ;) And, you're right, DaveRam, Memory Almost Full deserves a spot in the Top 5. It's a fantastic album.
-
I really love Chaos and Creation from starte to finish ,it's got great songs and it's bueatifully played.
Im really liking a lot of Paul's later recordings . :)

Me Too! Chaos was a fantastic & beautiful album :)
-
Today I watched the DVD and the documentary is pretty good, but a little short, and doesn't have subtitles. It doesn't matter, I understood almost everything ;) Paul looks good. In this footage is 63 years old, and he seems 10 years younger! Ha, that's my Paul! :D
How Kind Of You it's such an amazing good, specially when he plays the some guitar solo in the bridge. It's beautiful.
-
Band On The Run just pips Ram for this honour.
Right now Memory Almost Full is challenging for 3rd place.
-

Certainly not a bad album! :)
-
Certainly not a bad album! :)
I've come to the conclusion that it is a masterpiece!! Go Macca!! :)
-
I've been listening to Flowers In The Dirt and I think it's pretty good. I don't have Press To Play but I suppose FITD is quite better than that one. Many said that Press To Play is a very "cold" album. But Flowers sounds fantastic. Of course is not my favourite, but is a great album. I think Ou Est Le Soleil? is a good song but I don't understand why they released it as a single? It's a very strange track!
-
Any comments about Flowers in the Dirt? :P
-
I like most of Flowers In The Dirt , but i really dislike Motor Of Love , for me it's one of Paul's worst songs.
DaveRam :)
-

DaveRam :)
Ah, that's true, I remember. I like the song. From all that I know, to me Paul's worst song is Kreen-Akrore. It's not a song . . .
Hey, Dave Ram. I'm from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Where you from?
-

DaveRam :)
Yes, it seemed to be his Cliff Richard moment :-/
-
I've always thought Ram was the best, but commercial wise I guess Band on The Run.
-
MAF- for obvious reasons 8)
-
I think it's great that many people choose Memory Almost Full as his best album. But, don't you think it's a little because it's his most recent and because we're all really excited? I will never say that this is his best record ever made. I think you're overrating this album a little. I love it very much, but it's not his best...
Anyway, if you really feel it as his best album, it's welcome!
-

The moment of truth... Shamefully I never bought any other McCartney album (I just made a McCartney cd from LimeWire) so for MAF is his best cd. :B

Back to the Egg or Red Rose Speedway
What in the hell was i smoking in 2004.
RAM by a million miles.
-
I think Ram is probley my all time fav Macca album along with Venus & Mars, Flaming Pie, Flowers in the
Dirt, Tug of War, Press to Play * MAF! :) & did i forget Band on the Run.
-
Venus and Mars has grown on me alot. It sounds very up to date (for 1975 that is.) While Lennon and Harrison seemed lost and dated by then, this album sounds very fresh and immediate (and big, if you know what I mean.) It sounds like music for its time, which is good.
If Wings had been a new band with no history, this still would have been released. Can't say that about all solo stuff.
-
has to be Ram!!
-
If Wings had been a new band with no history, this still would have been released. Can't say that about all solo stuff.
I think you could say that about the band itself too. If Wings would have had no past(The Beatles) I still think they would have been huge. Of course they would have had a rough start with WildLife but they would have picked up with Red Rose Speedway.
-

Oh God, so you never...? Are you saying that...? ...It's okay! Many people never bought an album of an artist and they considered to be a fan anyway so... You're welcome, buddy! Meanwhile, I'm spending my money in the complete Paul collection, it's getting better all the time!
Hey, I wanna know the tracklisting from that McCartney CD!
-

I would definately buy them if I had the means... Im a poor little girl y'know... :P And that contradicts two Beatles songs: Money CAN buy me love and the best things in life are NOT free
-
Hehe! Poor little girl.... with the hair in the air... (remember that George's song?) :P
-

Not really :B... but I'll say yes just for the sake of agreement ;)
-
I haven't come even close to hearing every album, but I like McCartney, Flaming Pie, and Band On The Run. And MAF. I keep hearing people say that Ram is great, and my dad said I would like it. So, I think it's the next thing I'll be buying. ;D
-
You'll like it. Its his best.

If you don't fall in love with it immediately, give it time.
-
I do not understand why people on here like Ram, it is sh*t. Band On The Run is the best.
I shall give Ram another listen but if it is still the same cocky bull that it was on it's last 20 odd outings then I shall never play it again.
-

Well, you're in for a very special treat Beatlemaniac64! ;)
but i must admit when i first heard it i thought it sounded quite a
messy album but a few more listens makes you realise what a fantastic
album it is! :) That's the genius of Macca! ;)
-
Thanks everyone for telling me what it's like. I'll definitly be buying it! ;D

RAM is freakingly amazing. Yesterday I played the album 2 times, and I sang it entirely. It's a fantastic record, to me the best by a solo Beatle. There's no low point in the album. It has that charm because he's really homemade, you can listen Paul breathing close to the mic, not like on Flowers In The Dirt or even Red Rose Speedway where his voice is so equalized. No, in Ram you listen all so natural, it's like Paul singing and playing in his farm, and you listen all kinds of noises, especially in Ram On. I love when somebody (probably him?) says 'Take 1', and he says 'OK!". ;)
-
It does have a very 'at home' feel to it, for an album that was recorded in a New York studio.
-
RAM is freakingly amazing.
Good Man Wingsman!! ;)
We did warn you that this was an amazing album! :)
-
Good Man Wingsman!! ;)

YES! Ram On guys! Ram-On!
-
I think Ram blows Band on the run out of the water. There are more tracks on Ram and the songs are all great.
-
I don't particullay like 'too-perfect' albums which are like
Band on the Run or Chaos & Creation.
I love all the f**ile-ness of certern albums like Ram 0r MAF.
that's what i love about Macca, he gives us interesting 'ideas'
on songs. for instance on 'Back Seat of My Car' has all sorts
going on in there & it's beautiful. great vocal-play on Ram
as well (with Linda of course). :)
RAM ROCKS!! :)
