They're f***ing amazing. Closer is one of the best albums ever.

What do you think of 'em?

I'm really a newbie when it comes to Joy Division because I only have "Closer." I bought the album a few months ago and whew! My first spin was not an easy listen by any means. It was like listening to "White Album" for the first time. An industrial "White Album." After a couple of listens now I love it, though I'd leave others to discuss the lyrics because they are just too much for me.

Also, without Joy Division, there'd be no Nine Inch Nails. ;)

I've been listening to them since '83 or so and absolutely love them.  Its amazing that a band like New Order came sprang from the ashes of them...so different in approach and lyrical content.

Some people felt they got more credit than they deserved due to Ian's suicide but I have a feeling they would have been remembered regardless.  In fact, I doubt they would have stayed together anyways...there's no way Ian would have been caught dead singing a song like Shell Shock.  I like a good chunk of New Order but the two just can't be compared.
