I hear some eastern Europe/Greece/ Gypsy/whatever was in their minds at the time influence with the mandolin style playing. I think it was a guitar capoed up high but I'm not sure about classical.

The instrumental passage at the end has a Greek Zorba feel and sound, but I dont detect any particular classical style myself.

Possibly.

The 'tit, tit, tit' backing vocals sound a bit Beethovenish... roll:) ;D

I think the minor key and eighth notes give Girl a bit of a classical feel.  It's always been one of my favorite songs and it's one of the first songs I learned on guitar.
