Heather's at it again!
« on: June 15, 2005, 06:40:34 PM »

Here's an article of Heather seeking publicity for her lost limb again, this time using blood donation as an excuse.

She's also trying to gain sympathy for her lost limb. It's starting to get really annoying! She lost a leg! She should get over it!

I think giving blood is a good thing. I do once in a while myself

Donating blood is a good thing, but people shouldn't need a reason for it... it should just be something you DO. Know what I mean?

Exactly! I'm sick and tired of Heather whinning about her lost leg! Sounds like she needs therapy, IMHO.

What's wrong with her relating her story to convey the need to donate blood? She's not seeking publicity for her lost limb. She needed blood after the accident and she was telling her story and how it saved her life. You may not like Heather but at least stay focused. Haven't you ever made a point by telling a story about something that happened to you to get your point across?

Not over and over again. People usually get the point the first time.

I would think loosing a leg would be a tramatic experience to "get over."

I agree, its not like saying 'I stubbed my toe once and...'.  She has nothing to gain by talking about it. I can't believe how vituperative people can be just because they don't particularly care for someone. Get over it.

What the heck was that for?! She should get over it! I'm sure people are sick and tired of hearing about her accident! That's no way to promote giving blood! She could have just said an anonymous blood donor saved my life and left it at that!

:o Losing a limb would be a horrific, life-altering experience! People need a reason for everything they do, and recounting a personal success story like that is a good way to motivate people to do good things. I can't see why this article would upset anyone...

I understand that, but after 12 years you would think someone would learn to live with it. There is such a thing as beating a dead horse. I agree with promoting donating blood, but using a story that's been recounted over and over again seems like a cry for attention.

What if "the leg" gets tired of all the publicity going to Heather and tries to get a little for itself.

These days "the leg" could have quite a career in show bizness.

Or maybe marry another celebrity--Paul is getting on a bit and his dye-job shows.

So I say, long live the leg!

I suppose there is no need for support groups for people who are grieving, or have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, an addiction, etc., that they should just 'get over it'. I hope you aren't a Counselor or really anything that has to do with people to whom you would, God forbid, have to show some compassion or understanding.

No, I'm not a counselor, but I'm just expressing my opinion. I can understand her telling her story at an amputee support group, but telling it to promote blood donation makes no sense to me.

Huh??

:B Pardon my ignorance, but I don't think I've ever heard this word in my life. I'm sure I could guess at the meaning though.

Paulsluv, I dislike Heather almost as much as you do, but I really can't see what she's doing wrong in this situation. Writing a book about it, etc, is looking for attention, but in this case it's relevant and I see no wrong.

I know Heather's annoying and manipulative, but she's not evil incarnate.
