Saying that Long Distance Voyager is also a great album without Mike,

I remember buying that on vinyl. Still got it. Love 'The Voice'. I lost track of The Moody Blues after this album tho.

I only liked The Present after that one Cor..

hey Baz may be interested in this though..;)

The Moody Bluegrass project is a group of Nashville artists who have recorded an album of 12 Moody Blues songs in the Bluegrass style, under the title Moody Bluegrass – A Nashville Tribute to the Moody Blues. Those involved include Alison Krauss, Harley Allen, Tim O'Brien, John Cowan, Larry Cordle, Jan Harvey, Emma Harvey, Sam Bush and John Randall.
A second Moody Bluegrass album entitled Two...Much Love with a further 16 Moody Blues songs will include guest performances from Hayward, Lodge and Edge, (each of whom is credited as the lead on one song) plus Thomas and Pinder, making this the first time since 1978 that these five musicians all appeared on one newly-recorded album.

a music journalist once called Barclay James Harvest 'the poor mans Moody Blues' so they deconstructed Nights In White Satin and re-wrote it, heres the result, see what you think;

Moody Blues - I'm Just a Singer in a Rock and Roll Band (Caesars AC 1995)

I was at this club concert that night.  It was the best performance of that song ever!

HaHa, I never twigged that Barry, Doremi ! very clever.

That a great pic of the original, dare I say classic line up of the moodies.

What a pity these wonderful bands have to split up, I used to love all Mike Pinders work of the albums, his great characterful voice also added much to songs by others, one of my favourites is is Simple Game by Mike..

Ray has also gone now again another wonderful 'Moody' voice goes, damn I wish these guys would stay together like The Stones

Nights in white satin is one of the best songs ever made.

I'm not really familiar with their other stuff.

Wow, it's been almost 9 years since I posted this. 'Nights in White Satin' has been one of my favorite songs for as long as I can remember. I got the 'Days of Future Passed' album several years ago, but I never really "got it" until last year. But now I really love it. I'm still not really familiar with their other stuff, though. Maybe I'll check it out by 2018 and hopefully it'll sink in sometime around 2023. ha2ha

That's why the album is called Days Of Future Passed, Joost.  ;)

Wow. A Moodies thread!

Moodies were my favourite band for a period in the early 80s and also my first concert in 1981. All their early albums I loved and played constantly. And the Lodge-Hayward Blue Jays record was on constant play during my last year of school.

 I think the last album I bought was The Other Side of Life. To be honest I thought post Long Distance Voyager their stuff got a bit formulaic and lacked oomph. So I haven't really listened to them for a long time. Might have to delve into some later stuff of theirs.
