I took the same girl to see Magical Mystery Tour in 1974 that I took to see Yellow Submarine five years earlier.  She asked me if I'd wait another five years to ask her out again to see another Beatles movie.

Ha ha.  At least the movie has the key advantage of being short. You weren't wasting too much of your girlfriend's life.

Well, the same theater decided to run Yellow Submarine a week later so I asked her if she wanted to see the movie again.  We did and wound up getting engaged a few months later but In The End things didn't work out.  Maybe if The Beatles stayed together and made more movies things would have worked out differently.  C'est la vie...

I remember she often sang bits of...

...until I remarked that she looked like Olivia Newton-John.  And she smiled.  She really did look a lot like her.   :)

Anyway, I'm very fond of the movie.  It had lots of clues!

On a whim before Christmas I picked up the MMT blue ray. I haven't watched it in years and it's a pretty cheap purchase nowadays.

With expectations lowered and knowing what to expect it's a bit of a laugh. With good music.

You can understand why everyone thought it was so gobsmackingly awful at the time though.

I was always fond of this movie because it's just so bizarre and non-sequitur.  I think they were just trying to get out of their movie contract. Not exactly a shining moment for the lads but I'll let it slide ;)
