what if 'free as a bird' (written in 1977) meant free from having to be in the beatles? (even if just a partial subtext)
kind of ironic that the other beatles joined in on it posthumously if that's the case
some people just can't take a hint.

personally i hate paul's contirbution to free as a bird.
it reminds me of 'weekend at bernies' where people pose up next to a corpse

how could paul complain about what phil spector did to long and winding road and then do this?

it wouldn't have been commercial - but they should have just sweetened up the original demo and done the instrumental accompaniment low in the back

in other words-> paul poured saccharin and jammed some hallmark lyrics in the middle of john's private creation making it curl up and decease like a salted slug.
like the overhyped awful 'real love' - just anthology commerce

george and ringo sound great. maybe someone with sense could have given paul a tambourine and asked george martin to make some coffee instead of both going too far in attempt to achieve greater 90's relevence in this vulturistic flop ala natalie cole's equally ghoulish 'unforgettable' 3 years prior

ok actually i like the new free as a bird and what i wrote was kinda harsh
so i guess i hav mixed feelings about the song and think paul's lyrics are corny ;sorry

That would've been a plausible theory if he'd written the song in 1970/71, but I don't suppose it was much of an issue to him anymore in 1977.
