Even though 99% of my record collection comes from the 50s and 60s, it is still possible to 'miss' an artist.
I still haven't got Nilsson's debut, Randy Newman's debut, Laura Nyro's stuff.....maybe next year.....but a 60s artist's work that I recently picked up (£3 in a charity shop) is, quite simply, the greatest record I think I've ever heard.....
TIM HARDIN: Hang On To A Dream - The Verve Recordings.
It's replaced 'The Beatles at the BBC Volume 2' on the CD player for about ten days now, and Tim Hardin has leap-frogged over Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, (early) Neil Young in my affections.
Quite simply, he's the best pop musician I think I've ever heard.
