That's a classic Aussie one HG.

George Martin produced a hit song for Rolf. Sun Arise.

Unfortunately our Rolf is a bit under a cloud at the moment. Which is sad given he was a fixture of my childhood with his tv show.

Well. I'm on the south coast. Enduring rubbish weather but still getting a swim and boogie board in.

As for celebrating I dare say I'll unscrew a red before long.

Well thanks everyone for the Aussie best wishes. It's not everyday you turn 228.  And really we don't feel a day over 200.

Yes, that certainly merits a toast. Good thing you unscrewed a red. (That isa drink, right?)

Oh yes.  ;) All our wine now has screw tops since they've found it seals better than cork and eliminates tainted wine from bad corks.  So think of it as uncorking a red.

Black Opel is my favorite! The most drinkable wine I've ever had!

That's what I thought. It's the same thing here. I've been working on a nice red myself. I went to the most incredible store last week, Premier Wine and Liqours. It was huge and full of wines from all over the world and what did I come home with? Good old Bully Hill Banty Red from Hammondsport NY. I never even made it out of my state. But it's so good.

I'm finding I'm sticking to ones I know more as well. I figure if I'm going to shell out decent money for a wine I want to know it's good. Not just hope.

The best wine I've ever had was some that my friend's husband made. She brought it when my friends and I had a girls only get together. I'm thinking we should have another one.

Yeah yeah. You Queenslanders always flaunt your perfect damned weather at we southerners.  ;)

I quite like weather variability. But when you hire a house at the beach for seven days and five of them are cloudy and rainy I almost feel like moving to Brisbane.  :(

That is exactly my philosophy! I can't afford to waste money on something that I don't like. Been there, done that. Of course, then at holiday times all sorts of pricey wines go on sale. Then it's harder to go back to the less expensive stuff.

Yep. That's what happened to me. Got some good wine at discount prices for a while. Then found I didn't like the cheaper stuff anymore.  :'(

OK, I had to Google Australia/Invasion Day. I had no idea it was the subject of so much contention. Marches and rallies and arguments about COVID social distancing—I felt like I was reading about the States.   ;)

Reminds me a bit of the Columbus Day/Indigenous Peoples Day debate over here.
