Album info required
« on: March 11, 2007, 09:19:18 PM »

G'day, new member with a couple of questions, I have in my collection two Beatles albums and I would like to receive comments or confirmation if they were ever released in Europe, I purchased them in Australia.
The first album is a 12 inch vinyl picture disc of Sergeant Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band.
Second album is a sealed Original Half Speed Master Recoding by Mobile Fidelity of Abbey Road.
I have an original All things must Pass album before it was withdrawn for a period due to legislation in the US, is there a difference
between this box set and the one released after the case was resolved, if yes how can I recognize the difference.?
I would appreciate any feed back.
Take care,
Dave  ;)

Hi Dave!

Welcome to the forum :)

Regarding the Sgt Pepper pic disc - as far as I recall there were two versions - one a UK pressing and the other a US pressing - so yep, it was released in Europe.

Regarding the half-speed master of Abbey Road - there were various releases of this too including a UK pressing which was advertised in a page advert in the national press in the late Seventies  - as I recall it retailed at aprox ?10 GBP which was a lot of money at the time!

I can't give you any further info on the ATMP album I'm afraid- I didn't realise it had been withdrawn due to legislation!

I only know something about the Sgt Pepper picture disc. It was released in 1977 (or 78, not sure about that). Most of these picture disc have the cover of the album printed on both sides. If you have a disc with the base drum pattern printed on one of the sides, it's far more rare.

Prices up the 85 USD.
Oh, and welcome to DM's, Dave. Stick around if you like it. And us.

Hi The End, the ATMP album wes withdrawn after a couple of weeks due to a claim from The Chiffons who
accused George of copyright. The claim was the My Sweet Lord was a copy of one of their hits.
George had to pay a vast amount of money to be able to get the album rereleased.

Ah, I did wonder whether that had anything to do with it - I didn't know the album was withdrawn from sale because of the He's So Fine/My Sweet Lord dispute though. I assume that was in the US only though.

Hi, the album was withdrawn worldwide, in the end George purchased the rights to He´s so Fine and rereleased the album.

Hi, busy yes but it gives me the possibility to pick up albums from around
the world which I would otherwise have little chance to do so.
