Beatles cover songs you prefer

Beatle songs have thousands of covers, but do you prefer any of them to the Beatles version ?

If you do post them here

I love this

This one's been mentioned a few times, and I actually kind of prefer it over the original...

For me, off the top of my head, only two eclipse the originals:

'I Wanna Be Your Man' - The Rolling Stones
'Give Peace A Chance' (OK, so it's not The Beatles!) - Hot Chocolate Band (Apple, '69)

Yes, only two come to mind for me as well:

Siouxsie & The Banshees' wonderfully dark and spangly version of "Dear Prudence" (if only The Beatles wispy original had had similar bite):

And Billy J Kramer & The Dakotas delivered a sharp, stylish take on "Do You Want To Know A Secret?" - The Fabs version sounds plodding and stilted by comparison:

I think I'll add in Joe Cocker's 'She Came In Through The Bathroom Window' from 'Mad Dogs And Englishmen' as well. I kind of like it a bit better than the original.

'With A Little Help From My Friends' from 'Woodstock' is another contender, but I think I like the original just as well.

What was that one he did in the 'Across The Universe' movie? 'Come Together'?

A good interpreter.

I like the Buble version.

Here's one I like a ton more than the Beatles version. Especially since I think the song itself is a filler tune in the Beatles catalog.
The Buckinghams-I'll Be Back

And here's a version I love, but not quite as much as the Beatles.

I can't think of too many Beatle songs that I prefer a cover version of.  One of the things I like about the Beatles is their overall sound. And the care they put into arrangements.

I'd agree that the Stones version if I Wanna Be Your Man probably wins. But I never liked the song much anyway. And it was only sung by Ringo.

Cocker's She Came in Through the Bathroom Window probably matches the Beatles version for me.

Australian Doug Parkinson did a pretty good version of Dear Prudence. He sings it with a bigger voice than the way John did it. I can't find the original recording on YouTube. Only later live versions.

I've seen the Stones 'I Wanna Be Your Man' mentioned a couple of times and I cant stand their version. I'm not saying the Beatles version is great or anything, but it pops and swings a bit more for me.

Now that you all have listened to my worthless opinion, back to the regular scheduled program.

I suspect that this will be unpopular due to the electronic nature of the cover. And, this is so different that I don't think I would say that I prefer this version. But, I appreciate this electronic cover of 'Taxman' by Yukihiro Takahashi.

Thanks Normandie.

Yukihiro Takahashi's Beatles covers improved over the years. First his 1980s band The Yellow Magic Orchestra did a cover of Day Tripper that really didn't work, IMHO. I't on youtube but I wouldn't recommend checking it out. In the early 80s he covered "It's All Too Much" on a solo album, but it's OK and interesting, but not the best. His late 80s cover of Tomorrow Never Knows was good, but that's a hard song to do wrong and many, including The Beatles, have done it better. Same for We Can Work It Out His best covers in my opinion are Taxman as posted, and his version of "I Need You" on his 90s album "A Ray of Hope". It's again an electronic version, but soft electronic pop. IMHO he did a much  better job at transposing the song into the electronic dance pop style than Candyflip did with Strawberry Fields Forever. Unfortunately his version of I Need You is not on youtube. Takahashi includes one cover track on each of his albums, of which he has released a LOT, and they are often Beatles songs.

Mentioning TNK reminds me of the version by 801. I love the bass playing on their version and would like to be able to play like that myself. I've never heard anyone match The Beatles version of it, particularly with the context of that being done in 1966! But, there are aspects of this I really enjoy, including the novelty of it being Brian Eno who is singing it.

801 - Tomorrow Never Knows

Also, here's Japanese singer Mayumi Chiwaki turning A Hard Day's Night into a novelty number. Certainly not preferred to The Beatles, but I think the world is a better place for having this  all vocal (sampling) version.
