I've got a VCR of one of their Ready Steady Go performances, and it looked to me like it was mimed ... John even made an embarrassed face once when his vocal timing was particularly off.

Does anyone know if these were mimed, or maybe there were a few RSG sessions with some live and some not? Can't remember if Shout was on my VCR ...

They were all mimed!

Shout wasn't performed on RSG, it was for a show called Around The Beatles. They mimed all their performances in Around The Beatles having pre-taped them 9 days prior.

Songs performed in Around The Beatles:

Twist And Shout
Roll Over Beethoven
I Wanna Be Your Man
Long Tall Sally
Can't Buy Me Love
Medley of hits: Love Me Do/Please Please Me/From Me To You/She Loves You/I Want To Hold Your Hand
Shout

It is from the same show that the famous Shakespearean sketch (excerpt from A Midsummer Night's Dream) was performed.

Thanks! I used to have the Shakespearean sketch on a tape. Good to see it again.

And here's "Shout" (this should actually be called "Shout pt.2" as they are performing the version that appeared on the B-side of The Isley Brother's "Shout pt.1").

This is longer than the version that appeared on Anthology - George's part is a couple of bars longer.

The press conference from '66 right before Candlestick Park. I thought I had seen the whole thing, but there's at least a half hour more here that I never did! I love when Paul's mic falls apart and he's trying to fix if for like a minute and then he looks at George who fixes it in three seconds. Ha. I think this is my favorite press conference because they're all so honest and not at all cuddly. They really do get asked some STUPID questions! To Paul: "What time of day do you prefer to write your tunes?" Paul: "What time of day? Certainly daytime anyway....oh and night time! Certainly something like that. Just anytime really. ANYtime!"  What a lame question!!!

What do you think about American's women's legs... My, couldn't these interviewers ever ask a proper question? Three years after the 'when are you gonna get a haircut?', nothing has changed. Great post by the way!

you can tell that George coundn't be bothered to answer these rather ridicolous
questions at the end!

I can't get enough of Lennon/McCartney singing at the same mic. I also love this damn song.

McCartney is TOO cool in this performance! What's he say to George?

and other sites e.g. Zippy Videos, Google Video and stuff like that. I found it quite handy to know and already downloaded a few vids. It works quite good.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here's a guide to download, play and convert videos from YouTube.

Locate the video at YouTube by searching. Copy the link of the file. Go to www.keepvid.com and paste the link on the box provided. Click the download button. You get the download link. Right click and do 'save target as' for Internet Explorer or 'save link as' for Firefox. You can also paste the download link on to your download manager.

Once the file is downloaded, you'll see the extension is .flv (Flash video file). These files can be played on several players. I recommed the free FLV player http://www.martijndevisser.com/blog...-player-updated

The files can also be converted to your favourite video format. Download the free (actually shareware but as good as free) CinemaForge from here http://www.mediaforge.com/wrapfactory-video.aspx

Converting is quite easy. Select the file, the output format and specify the parameters (frame rate, audio quality etc) and your work is done.

It's not Youtube, but it's a pretty artsy-fartsy animation of the Fabs. Shield your eyes! It's pretty snazzy.
