:) Have any of you guys see BackBeat! This film was made in 1994, the main actors in this film are Sheryl Lee ( Astrid Kirchherr) and Stephen Dorff (Stuart Sutcliffe) Johns bestfriend, John is played by (Ian Hart) theres also Paul, George, and Ringo. Ringo only has a smal part in it, just lays in bed. This movie shows how The Bealtes beggan there career :) I like this film and i injoy seen it over and over again ;D Tell me what you think of this movie do you like it? have you seen it ? or if you haven't seen it before?
This is some of the movies review:
''BackBeat has a convulsive energy, a raw and joyous explosivess, it's a rausingly seductive rock the house whirldwind.'' - The Chicago Tribune
''BackBeat is a thrilling spectacle thats rocks the house...defiant, raucous, erotic.'' -Rolling Stones
''BackBeat is sure-fire entertainment, stunning for its candor and emotionally explosive. Stephen Dorff is brilliant...'' -Entertainment Weekly
''You won't just cheer, you'll 'Twist & Shout'.'' -ABC-TV
I like the last quote :)

It was fiction but it was very well done.
-
Its one of my favorite music movies ever. Alot of musicians and people i've talked to over the years also enjoyed it, and good portion of them werent Beatle freaks.
-
just freaks huh?????

This was the second time Ian Hart had portrayed John Lennon on screen - he also starred in a black and white film about John's trip to Spain with Brian Epstein (can't for the life of me remember the title though!). That film, although based on some actual events, was mostly fiction too.

I never knew anything about it on dvd and mines is the vhs, but you could do a search on ebay or do a yahoo search. I'm sure someone has a copy. Just dont pay alot for it, its b&w and a little over an hour long. Also depending on how you think of John, This film can be unsettling. Good luck in your search
-
I never saw it but for anyone who's interested........

If you're interested in seeing a dramatized version of John's supposed homosexual relationship with Brian Epstein, then buy this movie! Otherwise steer WELL clear - it contains full-frontal footage of "John" having his back washed in the bath by "Brian"! Made me cringe!
-
How did the people who made HOURS AND TIMES get this information about Brian giving John a bath and so on?
It's got to be total fiction, right?
-
I've never seen "Hours and Times" and don't plan on seeing it, ever...
-
I agree.

TOTAL fiction!
The only truth is that they did go on holiday together in 1963 as John was apparently suffering from exhaustion.
Bob Wooler, the Cavern DJ, made some comment about John and Brian at Paul's 21st Birthday party and John beat him up so badly that he was hospitalised! The attack made the "Daily Mirror" newspaper and was the Beatles first ever appearance in the national press!
Brian Epstein ended up paying Bob Wooler 200 GBP not to press charges!
Sorry... I rambled on for way too long there!!! :)
-
Knowing that it is absolutely untrue, I'd like to watch "The hours and the times" just to see how ther story is apporached. I've seen picutres, snapshots of the film (that I plan to post her as soon as I can) of "JOHN" and "Brian" mouth kissing while JOHN is having a bath in a bathtube. I admit it's very impressive, myself was shocked when I saw those pictures.
It's just imagination...
-
oh well i given up, I can't find that bloody movie :-/......
-
Don't worry, you're not missing much! :)
-
oh....o.k :-) thanks AL
-
I thought Backbeat was mediocre even though it was better than Birth Of the Beatles which is the worst & the cheesiest biopic.
-
I0m still curious to see the hours and the times, but still I can't imagine JOHN kissing Brian... I would die!!!!
-
oh.....
-
By the way, I agree that of all the films on the Beatles, backbeat is one of the bests.
-
sadie4 whats your favorite scene on the movie?
-
In Back beat? Probably when Stu and Astrid make love among the paints, why?
-
yeah BackBeat...I thought it had something do with John thats all :-)
-
is on VH1 Classic at 7 pm central time tonight!
-
Backbeat being shown on VH1 Classic
Backbeat is being shown on VH1 Classic from Noon-2pm CST.
-
I LOVE that movie!!!!
-
noon in america aye ?
-
I`ve seen Backbeat at last. I loved the movie. Well-made, the guys are enthusiastic, though don`t look like The Beatles very much. But as it is mainly about Stu I believe new films should be made about each of them during the Hamburg period.
-
I like "Backbeat". It's a little hard for me to believe Ian Hart is John Lennon in some parts, but all in all I think it's a pretty good movie.
I've read Ian Hart also played John in "The Hour and Times"...not sure if I wanna see that one, though :P.
-
I found "The Hours and Times" on Netflix.....it's pretty good, but quite unrealistic.
The guy who plays Brian is kinda cute (I know I'm strange) :P.
-
This is a great film. Really shows the era well. It's a little cliched but what the heck!
But i've always been annoyed by the guy that plays George. He looks way too old, and, frankly isn't good looking. All the Georgie girls from this site surely must be horrified at the casting. I know they weren't trying to make the actors exactly like the beatles, but Stephen Dorff looks like stu's brother! Ian Hart and Gary Bakewell do J & P well, and so does the pete best guy. But George? It's pretty bad...
-
I think the guy playing George did pretty well, but couldn't they have given him brown contact lenses?
Seriously, the guy's eyes are bright blue! *eyeroll*
