you know at the way end when they're saying "smoke pot, smoke pot, everybody smoke pot"? (don't worry, this isn't another debate question haha), it is the beatles saying that, right? their voices sound lower & different, but they could have used some kind of recording technique to do that. also, is it all of them or just some? thankies!  :P

They're not singing what YOU say. And it's not the Beatles. Here's the story.

Members of a singing group, the Mike Sammes Singers, sing the two lines at the end. The blokes sing "oompah oompah stick it up your jumper", and the girls sing "everybody's got one".

Huh? It was a straightforward response to a post that contained an error ... Come on, Tkitna, there's nothing here for you to jump down  my throat at. ??)

This is why I said that. Why do you have to be like that? Wouldnt it be better if you could act like a human and scrap your 'i'm superior to everyone' demeanor that you toss around so often? Why did you capatilize the 'you' when you said that? Straightforward response?  ::)

Wow! And to think I thought of emphasizing THEY'RE also!

The emphasis was not meant to be read as sneering. And it didn't seem to be read like that by sexy sadie.

I thought it was 'oompah lumpah stick it up your jumper'...Inspired by Charlie and The Chocolate Factory? lol

And I also thought it said 'Everybody talk about'.....I will have to scrutinise tomorrow.

My ears hear "oompah oompah stick it up your jumper", "everybody's got one".

Mark Lewisohn writes in Rec Sessions

"On this day, 27 September, .... a choir of 16 voices variously singing 'ho ho ho, hee hee hee, ha ha ha', 'oompah oompah stick it up your jumper!', 'got one, got one, everybody's got one' ..."

But your ears have got to be your guide.

Your probably right...I have not got my books to hand to verify right now. I suppose it is nice to let your ears hear what you want, rather than what is in some instances.
It's funny when you have what you thought they said, in your head for so many years, only to find your wrong. Since Internet, there are many songs where I have realised I have heard the lyrics wrong. In some cases, I've publicly sang them wrong too! :B lol

So true. Sometimes, I think what I hear is better than what the lyrics turn out to be!

I have a friend who for many years has thought John sings "walrus scrotum" in Come Together. We think he's mad - it sounds nothing like that to me, or anyone else. Yet he is SO adamant, it is now a topic to steer away from. It's the only way to prevent arguments.

I know one person who swears John is singing "f***ing shout now" in the background of Shout (Anthology 1). Somedays I think she might be right, but mostly not. I wonder ...
