Title: Why is Paul finally playing Helter Skelter?
Post by: Wayne L. on May 23, 2004, 12:48:26 PM
I think Paul is finally playing Helter Skelter live on his upcoming tour hopefully because of dedicated Beatles fans like myself who wanted him to play this hard rock gem from his Beatles days for a long time now ever since I first became of the White Album back in 76 besides not letting the Manson murders back in 69 dictate to him not to play it.

Waynes mentioned this before and I doubt very much that Paul will play this. Pauls 60 some years old. He cant reach this song anymore.

He's been playing it with his band in rehearsals with the final setlist being finalized at this moment & on my favorite Beatles site with the latest McCartney news Helter Skelter is on there along with another underrated Beatles classic I've Got A Feeling, which is great.

Here is his set list.  Wayne is actually right (not about playing it because HE wanted him to, but otherwise...):

Spain song list

Jet
Got To Get You Into My Life
Flaming Pie
All My Loving
Let Me Roll It
You Won't See Me (Paul said this song was never performed before)
Paul practiced his Spanish saying: "Hola Asturias, muchas gracias...!")
She's A Woman

Maybe I'm Amazed
The Long and Winding Road
In Spite of All Danger (long version - Paul said that he and George wrote this
song together)

Blackbird
We Can Work It Out (fake-out)
We Can Work It Out
Here Today (solo)
All Things Must Pass (with band)
I'll Follow the Sun (with reprise - Paul said the song was too short so he did
the reprise)
For No One
I'll Follow the Sun (repeated song with reprise)
Calico Skies
I've Just Seen a Face

Eleanor Rigby
Drive My Car
Penny Lane
Get Back
Band On the Run
Back in the USSR

Live and Let Die (More powerful pyrotechnics and fireworks that could be seen
outside of the stadium. At the end of the song 13 fireworks with explosions
were launched)
I've Got a Feeling
Gimme That Thing (improvised song on piano)
Lady Madonna
Hey Jude

(encore)
Yesterday
Let It Be
I Saw Her Standing There

I stand corrected (I still have to see it to believe it) and I apologize to Wayne!
