"Rain" is my jam right now for the past 10 months!!! My album right now is Help! I'm digging from it "The Night Before" and "Another Girl".
-
Sorry to sound a bot thick but what does "jam" and "Im digging from it" mean? :B
-
Don't worry, Kaleidoscope_Eyes gets it now (I explained it to her ;))
I really like Help! too, especially Help!, You've Got To Hide Your Love Away and Ticket to Ride

I'm old, but I have my one good ear to the street.(and I occassionaly watch American Idol) I think:
Jam = favourite
I'm digging it from it = especially enjoying.

Rain is a great song...
when the backward vocals start it sounds like john is saying:it's better than a memory, deal with it... it's at 2:37 in the song...
he's the only one who can say something backwards and it sounds like acutual words...
same with free as a bird... at the end it sounds like he says john lennon...
spooky.....

Sounds like what it is to me - a vocal track played backwards. Though it is fun guessing what he could be saying.
Just because I'm bored - you say John is the only person who can record backwards and sound like he's saying something. Who else have you heard backwards that DIDN'T sound like they were making words?
I love the song by the way, may be my favourite Beatle track.

Wow, for me, this could be easily the statemente of the month!!! ;)
-
wow kevin... being harsh?
and i wasn't trying to guess what he was saying before they played it backwards... the actual backwards vocals sound like real sentences...
and i'm sure i'm not the only one who realizes this

Play any song backwards and I guarantee you'll be able to make out a lot of phrases or sentences. It just happens.

Yeah sorry - was a bit. Didn't mean to be.
It wasn't so much that it can't sound like something backwards, just that I don't think John is the only person who could do it.
I need to calm down.

OK, at a loose end so I took that section of the song and flipped it on the computer, and guess what? Lennon is singing: If the rain comes, They run and hide their heads.
Far out man ::) They really planned all that backwards stuff, didn't they ;)

I'm sorry, but I think it needs some more time to work on. Try to put some more passion in your voice.
-
oh, it is okay... it ust catches you by surprise when you hear something backwards and then your like, woah did he just say something?
it is cool.... i don't know if he's the only one who can do it but he definitely is the best, he's john lennon... lol...

Yeah, they did! John sang the reverse lyrics in Anthology.

It sucks.

No, the rain is just a state of mind...

If you really like Rain, I know a song very similar and a little better in my opinion.
Cloudburst (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQLizbcFmrI#)
Definitely inspired by Rain.

I agree it is inspired by Rain, but I can't agree with your first statement.
I do really like Oasis, but that song is nowhere near as good as Rain.
It's not even a good song by Oasis standards.
I feel sure that even Noel Gallagher would prefer Rain to Cloudburst!
He likes a bit of Beatles does Noel....

I thought you were stuck in 1972 at the moment. One thing at a time, Barry. Don't overdo it.

I can't resist this video! This is a song I never even knew about until just a few years ago. It was mentioned in a book I was reading so I looked it up on YouTube. That's when I thought that I'd better see what else I was missing. ;)
