Hey TK, have you got any old isolated drum parts at all? Maybe from some of your previous recordings?

A cheap PZM microphone 30 pounds - 60 bucks, a boss compressor/sustain pedal 40quid/80bucks and the mic line into your PC and you got a studio bro. ;)

You may have to d/load cubase or something. The PZM would work wonders on your kit all by itself...Trust me. ;)

Does this mean the Ringo seat is still vacant? lol

Don't worry about the hosting of the track, I can upload so everyone can get involved, I think we just need a continuity though - so after the bass and drums are sorted it would get passed onto the next person to add their bit etc etc. It would be better to do it in turn.

What I was thinking was to record the tracks in two track stereo, so as each new track is recorded I can add it to the master mix. That way tempo and pitch would not be an issue - as in the following example:

Track 1 panned left - drums
Track 2 panned right - bass
Send takes to Alan - Alan mixes tracks 1 & 2 to multitrack then mixes the two tracks to one track ready for the next person.
Alan sends mix on to the next person
Track 3 (panned left) - drums and bass (this is a mix of tracks 1 & 2)
Track 4 - panned right - rhythm guitar is added
Send take to Alan - Alan copies track 4 to multitrack then mixes all the tracks together to one track ready for the next person.
Track 5 (panned left) - a mix of drums, bass and rhythm guitar (from tracks 1, 2 & 4)
Alan sends on to the next person.
Track 6 (panned left) - a mix of drums, bass rhythm guitar (a mix of tracks 1, 2 & 4)
Track 7 - panned right - lead guitar is added
Send take to Alan - Alan copies track 7 to multitrack then mixes all the tracks to one track for the next person.
Track 8 (panned left) - a mix of drums, bass, rhythm and lead guitar(from tracks 1, 2, 4 & 7)
Alan sends on to the next person

Etc etc for 16 tracks in total if necessary!

Hope that all makes sense!

I reckon maybe 4 minutes would be better though rather than 2 minutes.

Think along the following structure I think...

INTRO
VERSE
CHORUS
VERSE
CHORUS
MIDDLE 8
VERSE
CHORUS x 2

What d'ya reckon?

Maybe we'll need a demo first? Or at least some kind of basic thing?

I said 2-15 just to make it as short as a good Beatle pop tune. Also for file transferring byut if 4mins can be handled, even better.

I've said Aminor, whats the style...Should we base the tempo on a mutually acceptable Beatle track?

Just for tempo purposes, I was thinking of Ask Me Why - a sort of mid-tempo.

With regards to the style - fairly bright and cheery, I reckon, but that will probably be dictated by chords. :)

What does everyone else think?

Yep, absolutely need YOU on those skins TK :)

What we need is some beats and fills and variations all at the same tempo - I can mix them together afterwards so the various parts fit in with the chorus, verse and middle 8 etc. If possible, it needs to be recorded to CD (or some other digital thing!) and uploaded to your PC then emailed as an attachment to me.

If that's not possible, you can always post me a good old-fashioned tape! I will then copy to that to CD for you. :)
