For Discussion: The "Best" Beatles Song Ever
Briefly taking its own advice, and leaving the presidential sitzkrieg alone for a moment, the blog was cruising the musical precincts of the Intertoobz. It seems that it was 50 years ago this year that Decca Records, in all their brilliance, determined that "guitar bands" were on the way out, and declined to offer a deal to a young outfit from Liverpool.

New Pics: The Beatles Before The Big Time
Legendary arts centre and live music venue Fairfield Hall in Croydon, London, England is currently celebrating its 50th Anniversary. Thanks to a fortunate set of timely circumstances, previously unpublished photographs of none other than The Beatles have surfaced from a performance the Fab Four put on at Fairfield Hall on April 24, 1963; almost 6 months after the venue first opened on November 2, 1962.

Update: No offers yet to save Hamburg's Beatles museum from closing
A spokesman for Hamburg's Beatlemania museum, which has announced it will close at the end of the month, says no one has yet to come forward and keep the museum from shutting down.

Yellow Submarine still poses questions
When the Beatles-inspired Yellow Submarine was released in 1968, its promoters linked it to classical myths and landmark tales of fantastic voyages such as the Odyssey and Alice In Wonderland. In the intervening decades, the iconic movie has inspired waves of analysis and dreamy philosophising. Who do the Blue Meanies represent? What does the voyage of the Yellow Submarine symbolise ? What drugs were the animators taking ?
