So, there is a tribute band (with a girl as a lead vocal) and they do the covers of John's demo songs that he did in 1980.
Actually, they issued an album titled 'Estefy Lennon Band 1981' - with selection of John's songs of that period.
And I always wanted to hear John's accoustic stuff in full, studio version with guitars, drums, piano etc. - exactly the thing this band does!
Tracklist:
One of the Boys
India India
Grow Old with Me
Whatever Happened To
She's a Friend of Dorothy
Help Me to Help Myself
Life Begins at 40
You Saved My Soul
The album is available on Amazon and other music stores (Deezer etc.) so I guess it is issued legally.
My favourites are Help Me To Help Myself, She's A Friend of Dorothy and India, India.

'You Saved My Soul' is one of the most beautiful John's unfinished songs (he played in on electric guitar without any other instruments).
Estefy Lennon Band did their version. They made it into ballad - while John played in more 'firm'. I'd wish their version would be closer to John's idea - but hey - we've finally got the 'full' studio
version of this nice song! cheer1

Initial reaction to this cover was , NO! Eleanor Rigby remains in my top 5 Beatle favorites, probably always will.
So when I started listening to this I was turned off by the interpretation of it.
Then, as I listened, my mind went to , "judge the cover as if you never knew the original". Then I started to appreciate it a little more. But my mind started messing with me, going back and forth from "NO" to "yes".
Your thoughts?

I like it, blmeanie; thanks for sharing it. I'm not a musician like most of the forum members, so I can't give a nuanced review of what it is that struck me.
I didn't care for the way it started out, either, and likely would have stopped it if not for your comments in this regard.
One thing I didn't care for was how she slightly modified the lyrics to "As I look at all the lonely people."
