You would love The Book Thief! It's right up your alley.

After checking a plot synopsis and some reviews I think you're right Dave, for lots of reasons.

My girls and I just saw Deliver Us From Evil. It was so-so. I get tired of the entertainment media's constantly inaccurate portrayals of the Catholic Church, but at least it wasn't cast in a negative light.

I feel the need to search out something a bit more lighthearted now.  :)

Found it! Uncle Buck was on cable. My girls had never seen it before; it was just what we needed, a silly, lighthearted movie.  :)

"Uncle Buck" is one of our favorites here! We watched "Stir Crazy" tonight. I hadn't seen it since it first came out in 1980. I think I enjoyed it more when I was 17.

Ha ha! That's the funniest part of the movie. That and the one shortly after it where Richard Pryor's trying to light a match. "Yes I'm a short son of a b****, my daddy was a short son of a b****, my mother was shorter than him, and my brother, my brother was so short we couldn't even see him." At first I thought he was saying "sharp" instead of "short" and I still thought it was funny.  roll:)

I think this was heavily promoted. It was funny if you look past the improbabilities and pat ending. LOL

ha2ha  Thanks for posting that, Kelley. Ah, the good old days, when movie trailers actually described what the movie was about. The ones these days (well, the ones they show in movie theater previews; I can't speak for TV) seem destined to confuse the viewers until the very end. I find it annoying rather than intriguing.

Grr, I just canceled Netflix; wonder what my chances are of finding that at the local video store?

If you can't find it at the video store there's this on YouTube. I really have no idea what it's about and if you end up owning it or what. They won't let me see unless I switch to the stupid Google+ account that they want to force on me. Life was better before Google googled its way into You Tube!

Grand Prix

Saul Bass title sequence - Grand Prix (1966)

1966

Great Formula 1 racing cinematography!  The were some boring love side plots made bearable with actresses like...

Jessica Walter

and...

Eva Marie Saint

Oh!  And Françoise Hardy who doesn't dance, drink or smoke...
