It's post Beatles, but I think On The Wings Of A Nightingale by the Everly Brothers is one of the best songs Paul ever wrote. Does anybody know if any recordings of Paul doing that song excist?

Yes there is a demo of Paul doing this song, accompanied by his guitar. It was included on the bootleg 'The Songs The Beatles Gave Away'. I can pm you a link to d/load just this song if you want.

It would be great if Macca could record the Beatles songs he wrote and never recorded. It would gain a lot of interest.

This is the 'Stars on 45' single from the early 80's. Bas Muys was originally in a Dutch pop group called 'Smyle'. Bobber might tell you more.

"Stars on 45" came out when I was in high school, and a girl I was going out with at the time told me "Sugar, Sugar" was her favorite Beatles song.  ;D

By the way, a year or so after "Stars on 45" appeared, EMI issued their own Beatles medley, intended to promote the then new compilation/exploitation album Reel Music, which consisted of songs that had appeared in the Beatles' film projects.

Somebody else has been looking for it: http://www.dmbeatles.com/forums/m-1093116435/
Bas Muys sang the parts of John Lennon on the Stars On 45 songs. I'll have to check if I got the album. I do have a song by Smyle tho.

Just wondering whether you thought any of the songs the beatles gave away, or decided not to release, you felt should've have been - whether it be in place of another song, or just added onto an E.P/Album etc.

Songs they souldn't have given away and should have released are ones such as I'll be on my way and Not guilty.

Personally, I think "Look What You've Done" by Jet is one of the best Beatles songs not performed by the Beatles.  ;D

^^I really like that song too!

Wasn't it inspired from "Sexy Sadie"?

just heard it for the first time. thanks

definite sexy sadie reference, but the piano sounds a little like let it be too

edit - ok, just heard more, the crunching guitar part sounds a little like "one sweet dream . .came true..today"
---------------------

this song sounded derivatave but not too much and it was pleasant

Actually, I meant that comment as a bit of a jab, I thought they swiped that tune rather ruthlessly from the Beatles. But I guess it is an OK song.
