"Carnival Of Light"

(maybe that's why George kept it off Anthology and locked up in the vault)

I think these guys were born knowing how to play guitar!

Excuse me for being indelicate, by those aren't tampon strings hanging out of their mamas, them's guitar strings.

Put me down for "Dig It" - now THAT's album filler, in my opinion. Followed closely by "Revolution 9" and "Don't Pass Me By."

As for Ringo's covers of Buck Owens and Carl Perkins, I have no problem with that. I do find it interesting that legend has it that Perkins was at one of the sessions where they covered a song of his. If it was "Matchbox", he obviously didn't correct the lyrics. Actually, I believe it was "Honey, Don't".

Really? ??? "Don't pass me By" ? I absolutely love that song every time I listen to it I usually end up repeating at least once maybe twice :P

Waiting for your knock dear
 On my old front door
 I don't hear it
Does it mean you don't love me any more!

I dare you to try and write a better song

In my opinion, the Beatles are not only the greatest musical act of all time, but also mankind's crowning artistic achievement.

Oh, my. Please don't dare me. : )

As a Ringo song, it's not a bad try on his part. That's not the problem for me. It just sounds self-consciously hokey with that arrangement. I think his solo track "Sail Away Raymond" has a better sound as far at that genre is concerned. But don't fret; I still listen to "Don't Pass Me By" when it cycles through on my iPod.

My only problem is, like "Rubber Soul" and "Yer Blues" (as titles), Ringo and the others seemed to play it self-consciously, not quite doing it seriously, but in such a way as to "laugh it off as a joke" if it didn't work. That's just my opinion.

tbf though I dont think Dig It was an actual track, its just a bit of studio fun that they were having between takes, it was left on the album to give it a 'live' feel, just like Johns 'Sweet Lorreta fart' comments and 'phase 1 in which Doris gets her oats' banter, just that this made up banter had them singing it

I think the worst actual song for me is Dont Pass Me By, Ive never liked that genre of music, Ive never really liked Ringo's vocals and its way too long, for me its just horrible, the lyrics could have been written by a 12 year old

HG, that's exactly who I was thinking of when I posted my comment. And I'd also like to thank the mothers in Nashville.

Right.  All 16,821 of them.

I sure am glad we got a chance to say a word about the music and the mothers from Nashville.

Don't Pass me By is pretty bad. It's too bad Paul didn't write Come and get It a year earlier. Ringo could have covered that well for the White Album.

He probably would have still offered it to The Iveys and insisted that Tom Evans sing lead.  ;)
