The best I've seen are "1964: The Tribute" and the "Fab Faux".

I've seen 1964: The Tribute three times. The first time they were called 1964: As The Beatles, but alas, Apple notified them they could not mention the name "Beatles" in their title . Something to do with McCartney might loose a nickle or some poor dumb bastard might think he actually saw The Beatles and get the two confused ::).Each time I saw them I was amazed and how they captured the stage persona of The Beatles right down to "John's" gum chewing and mimicking cripples. I also saw "Beatlemania" in 1980 when they first toured. That was something to see and here, with the costume changes, the giant screen behind the stage flashing all those period images, and the off stage muscians playing along to fill out the music on the 1966-1970 stuff it was incredible. There have been many tribute bands since, but nothing like that since. It was a high dollar production even before the muscians were figured in the cost. At the end of the the show the band came back out and played a six song encore the was just as good as the rest of the show. Wish I could see that show again :)

I don't rate the Bootleg Beatles too highly actually - their drummer is terrible! He can't even get the intro to She Loves You right!

In Australia we have a few tribute bands but the one I have seen a few times "Beatnix" are great.  They have all the stage movements mimicked perfectly, all except "paul" is right-handed...but I guess there are somethings you just can't do!

Perhaps it IS a different drummer now - I've seen them 4 times with the same ringo, but the last time was about 4 years ago. :)

Yeah but do any of them perform the Abbey Rd. Medley??? lol.

What about 'The Silver Beatles', 'Bootleg'' etc. How come they get to use Beatles in their name?

..they have done the medley :)
They normally choose the commercial songs..

They tried to slip in a few more Album Tracks..Martha My Dear..etc..but the crowd was abit.. .. some people just go for the hits..people without a clue.
I was speaking to them backstage, and George was saying they took a risk with the album tracks..and it never payed off :( It must be a pain, knowing some great Beatle songs..but not playing em..due to 'crowd pleasing'.

Wow! Would love to have seen that. Did they go as far back as Mean Mr. Mustard?
I can understand 'Georges' frustration. Luckily although we go for big detail, we don't do it full time. Luckily we get away with it. Slip in the Helter Skelters, I've Got A Feelin and The Abbey Rd. Nice insight Mr. Walrus. I mean if we did try and do it more that would be a big factor and I would have to be selfish and stick to the ones I LOVE. lol...Better stick to my own music then in the long term. lol ;)

This is the drummer I've seen 4 times (I think his name was Rick). He couldn't handle the staggered drum-fill in the intro to She Loves You ("She loves you yeah yeah yeah... DRUM DRUM" etc) and struggled with Ticket To Ride. There was nothing wrong with his general time-keeping though and the rest of the band were awesome!!! :)

I've seen '1964' once at Bethany college in West Virginia. I was going to try to talk with them afterwards, but the flask I smuggled into the show got the better of me.

I've got that Beatlemania video too and they are great! The Beatnix in Australia are great too but they use sequenced backing for all the piano, brass, strings sounds etc. They always do two sets, first in the Hard Days Night suits then 2nd set in the Pepper suits.
I have just put together a new Beatles tribute band here in Melbourne called
THE MELBEATS and we plan to do it all live. We will have a keyboard player off stage playing all those parts. Our show will have three sets with costume changes, so if anyone is ever in Melbourne, look us up!! (Web site coming soon)

I'm starting to dislike living here in Canada....I really would like to get out and see some tribute bands, and if I had the money I'd move in with my best friend in Australia, since she knows a few of the bands personally...I kind of envy now :(

I LOVE 1964: The Tribute! I saw them twice. They're playing north of Indy in April. I hope to be able to go see them a third time.
