Title: Treasures of the Beatles (book with pull-out reproduced items)
Post by: Penny Lane on December 19, 2009, 09:24:31 AM
Treasures of the Beatles by Terry Burrows:

http://www.amazon.com/Treasures-Beatles-Music-Sales-America/dp/1402773455/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1261214091&sr=8-1 (http://www.amazon.com/Treasures-Beatles-Music-Sales-America/dp/1402773455/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1261214091&sr=8-1)

Does anyone own this book? What do you think of it? I browsed through it quickly today at a bookstore and it looked pretty cool. It has lots of reproduced items like posters and postcards which are neat to look at, especially for Beatlemaniacs. Quite similar--though probably not as thorough--to the Lennon Legend book, IMO.

I don't have that particular book, but I do have the Bob Dylan Scrapbook which is the same idea. I think it's awesome and just adore it. I get the feeling that the Beatles version wouldn't be as cool, though.

I have this, and I love the stuff it comes with. The two posters it came with are on my wall, although, as said previously, Ringo is blurry in one of the posters, but the other makes up for it, I think.

I have it as well and made a neat sort of collage on my wall with the stuff it came with. My walls were terribly bare before that. =)

As a book I really enjoyed it, as well. A fast read but it's got pages on each Beatle's early life as well as short little descriptions as to why the Beatles wrote or recorded each song on each album. Some nice photos as well.

Here's a photo of all the pull-outs, as well as bits of the posters. =D I'm proud of this.

The only exception is the colorful postcards, which came with Beatles Rock Band (as I'm sure many of you are aware).

Yes. Lol maybe they thought they ought to throw in some extra goodies to make up for the extortionate price.  :D

Grr, I didn't buy the box set, I just bought the game. *sigh* I guess it's time to go searching to see if I can buy them separately.  ha2ha

Hey, who knows, maybe you can find scanned versions online and print them out!  :P

See, I just kept renting the game until I could get the boxed set.  ;D

Really? I bought the game the day it came out, but it just so happened that I had Rock Band 1 and 2 already, so I figured it wouldn't be worth it to buy all new instruments.

I might search ebay. They usually have awesome stuff for cheap. I'll report back tomorrow with my findings.  :P

I went to England very shortly after it came out and never got a chance to buy it. Heh. And all our Rock Band/Guitar Hero instruments were shot to hell anyway, sooo we figured why not.

Ebay is always a good idea!

Why thank you! And yes, the picture of Paul is a poster of the four of them at the Sgt. Pepper's release party and it came with the book.

And yes - he does look gorgeous in it.  :P

That's what I said!  :) Especially since they put a poster of them on Sully's show at the beginning of the book, and then everything else went in chronological order. Sooo the two big posters make nice bookends.  ;D

I think I got mine for about 30 dollars (US, that is  :P) from B&N but I think it was also 10% off.

Not bad, I don't think.

its 22 bucks now you can get lennon legend for 14... hmm tempting maybe ill ask for them for my brithday or something.  64 pages only tho each which is kind of disappointing... lennon legend got way better reviews.

She's the only one that doesn't pop jokes at me about them. I'm planning on getting a tattoo soon, something Beatle related. (Probably just something George related  ha2ha) I haven't told any of my family yet because I don't want to be discouraged before I even have a definite plan.

Blah, at least I have one person that won't say cruel things when they see it.  ;D

I just got this book at the weekend, it's great!  :D
It's a shame the story inside is just the same old same old.  Most books reproduce the same story with slightly different words.  But the items made it so worth it.  I love all the things you get.  It makes you feel as though you were there a little more.  :)
The big posters are definitely going up on my wall whenever I can buy some blu-tack!  At the moment my noticeboard is displaying the two gig tickets, the Japanese poster, the signed postcard with all of them looking really young, the setlist on the back of Neil Aspinall's business card, and the brown photo of them all.
Every time I walk past the setlist, I get one of the songs in my head, which is quite funny.  It's a good setlist too!  Roll Over Beethoven's a good opener, and of course Twist And Shout is the best closer.  Another good job done by the boys!  I envy whoever saw that set  :P
