Title: JoJo
Post by: blmeanie on March 26, 2024, 10:54:07 AM
So - we know of JoJo from the song Get Back.

first verse here:

Jo Jo was a man who thought he was a loner
But he knew it couldn't last
Jo Jo left his home in Tucson, Arizona
For some California grass

I was in the car over the weekend and listening to...wait for it...some Beatles. Anyway, Back in the USSR comes on and in the bridge of the song here:

(Well) The Ukraine girls really knock me out (Ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh)
They leave the West behind
And Moscow girls make me sing and shout (Ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh)
That Georgia's always on my mi-mi-mi-mi-mi-mi-mi-mi-mind
Oh, come on!

I never knew it was "Georgia's always on my ..."

I always heard it as "JoJo's always on my ..."

So I got home and looked up the lyrics to confirm (sadly I was wrong for 50 or more years) and heard JoJo.

If/when I confirmed I was going to post here about JoJo and ask what the fascination was for Sir Paul and some random person named JoJo

BUT alas, I now have to grapple with different lyrics than I've heard for half a century...

Anyone else?  Any other lyrics you've misheard for years and years?

Yeah BM, I think it's like a pun on the famous song "Georgia On My Mind" by Ray Charles I think.

I Never thought it was JoJo  ;D

I can understand your misheard lyric, blmeanie.  It does sound like Paul sang "JoJo's" on the album...

He sang it more clearly in Red Square...

I heard it as "Georgia's" in 1968 as I'm of Russian descent and was familiar with the Soviet Socialist States he mentioned in the song...

And like Kevin, I also recognized that Paul was having a bit of fun with the lyric "Georgia's always on my mi-mi-mi-mi-mi-mi-mi-mi-mind" and paying homage to Ray Charles...

That must be the map that Putin thinks still exists in 2014.
