« on: June 11, 2012, 04:21:24 AM »

"1984" (Spirit, 1970)

"Plexi-plastic eyeball, he's your special friend, he sees you every night; well he calls himself Big Brother but you know it's no game, you're never out of his sight."

Spirit - 1984 [Excellent quality]

"2000 Man" (The Rolling Stones, 1967)

"Well my wife still respects me, I really misused her; I am having an affair with the random computer."

Rolling Stones-2000 man

"Space Odyssey" (The Byrds, 1968)

"In nineteen and ninety-six we ventured to the moon, onto the Sea Of Crisis like children from the womb; we journeyed cross the great wall plain beneath the mountain range and there we saw the pyramid, it looked so very strange."

Byrds - Space Odyssey - The Notorious Byrd Brothers

Wow. Prophetic lyrics there in some cases. This is a great thread Hombre. Maybe after a good night's sleep I'll be able to think of something to add to it.  ;)

'Point Me At The Sky' was a Pink Floyd song written in '68 by Waters and Gilmour and featured the lyrics "If you survive till 2005". Then, in 2005, the band made a brief reunion and played at Live 8 in their original lineup (without Syd) which turned out to be their last reunion.

Yeah, "an affair with the random computer" can have more than one interpretation today!

1999: Prince

It sounds a lot like "Manic Monday" which Prince later wrote for the Bangles. Self-plagiarism?

"In The Year 2525" (what a piece of...work). If we live that long, we'll see how that plays out.
