You're right. It's a shame that talented bands like The Rolling Stones, U2, Led Zeppelin, The Eagles, The Beach Boys, Queen and Pink Floyd never got any recognition at all.

Do you really think that there was no band before The Beatles that had similar Rock music?

Rock wasn't invented by the Beatles...

and btw @ your previous comment, that's not really what I meant. I know there are a lot of bands that do get recognition, but I mean, there are even more (much more) that don't get any, and their songs are quite good..

I think that there's a huge difference between a band that intentionally copies The Beatles' sound for a Beatles documentary, and a band that started with Motown, Spector and rock 'n' roll influences and from there on somehow got to 'Strawberry Fields Forever' and 'Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds'. Can you name any group that predated The Beatles that made songs like those?

Of course it wasn't. But nobody said it was.

You don't have to tell me, I played in several bands myself that never got any recognition even though they were incredibly good. ;)

I had a listen to those two songs you mentioned. I don't really know what to look for in those songs. What is so good about them? They are musically/melodically very... boring. :-\

Perhaps it's the lyrics that is what's good about them, but I don't really understand them.   ???

Is there something I'm not seeing here? I prefer the earlier Beatles songs to be honest. I think they got worse as they progressed.

Perhaps the lyrics got better, but the melodies are no longer there. And anyway, isn't Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds about LSD?

Hehe, thanks, I'm glad someone is enjoying my half-bashing/half-supporting for the Beatles :P

I don't want anyone to get me wrong though. I LOVE the Beatles. If anyone asked me who I thought was the best band, talent wise, I'd definitely say The Beatles. I just don't think they were that great. They were okay.

If you think the best still aren't that great, than maybe you should consider adjusting your standards. ;)

I take back what I said, and apologize. ;sorry

I just had a listen to the Liverpool Echo album.   :-\

It was so cheesy (lyrics wise, and melody wise) I literally couldn't listen to it. I felt almost embarrassed for the band!

After listening to LITSWDiamonds, I am starting to really like it and realize how much better it is!  :o

(yeah... I'm a bit slow)
